You're right Spindrift. There is a lot of really good music around these days. A lot of it is progressive, like Vision & Canedy, Freq, Matenda, Kooler, Son Kite etc. etc.

And here's my hypothesis about it all: I think most people tend to feel that progressive is not a part of our scene. I can see a point there, since progressive breaks borders as tracks of Vision & Canedy for example, could be (and probably are) being played in regular trance parties as well as psytrance parties. Some people can't live with that as it seems, so that's probably why there is so much regular full on like styles being played at the parties. And as we all know, most full on sounds the same these days and more often than not the tracks sound uninspired. (There ARE exceptions ofcourse)

Anyway, that's my idea about how it could be like this. Now, keep in mind that I don't go to the parties, so I won't have all the facts about the partyscene. I just THINK this is a part of the reason.           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. As death extinguishes us, so we become it."

if they like it, it's cool...

if you have a problem with the bassline then don't listen to ther music.

it a matter of taste...

I whish there was a choice for me.....but always when I go to a party it is the same bassline in almost every track.
At home I blast much south-african stuff right now. Also act's like penta, gregg on earth and digital talk is great, except from the tracks that feature the dakadaka.
Why do I hardly hear any of that stuff on parties in neither goa or sweden. Most the groovy dancers I know think the dakadakadaka is boring as well.

I been listing to goa trance since the beginning of 90's, and I find that it's unusually much good music available right now. But at the parties I go to the music is more boring than ever.

I guess I will have to stop winching and stay home and to listen to my own collection, until fashion changes again

i know your feeling, and thats why i dont listen to full-on.... i only listen to groovy proggy and minimal with cool funky basslines and stuff           www.myspace.com/psypox

Vision and Canedy is not part of our scene because it is not psychedelic at all .........

it released on Hadshot which soon will be total progressive label , not psy ...........

but Freq , Kooler , Matenda and Son kite are psychedelic they not progressive house and not trance they progressive psy trance ..........

Vision and Canedy , Cass and Slide , Krugen and Coyle has nothing to do with psy scene only coz of their past in psy scene ....... they now progressive house and trance artists on pretty nice level imho

very pro production from them all

there is psy progressive and progressive them are different scenes and different allllllllllllll money , fame , production level , sound design level........ very different .......................

Spindrift, i sometimes ask myself the same question... YET, once i do, i automatically remind myself that the problem must be with me and not the "trends". It is us who dont adapt to the new styles, and since that's the case, its only up to us to open or not open our minds to this new music. i choose not to listen to this type of music, but i do not rule it out since i see an evergrowing number of people who enjoy it. i say not for me, but live and let live.
i also didnt enjoy the phase around 2000 of minimal music, guess what? it passed... new things are coming, some we may like some not.

just keep in mind to roll with the flow of things and keep your ears open for music you do enjoy

Surrender, I appreciate your view, and don't like to start going "i don't like that style, and everyone who likes it is shitheads with no taste".

I do appreciate the variation in music available now, and definatly think trance have improved a lot in general the last few years.
Around 2000 there was not much music being made that I liked at all, but now there is loads. And progressive music don't upset me in the same way, because it is a different style alltogether most of the time.

I like dark and hard psychedelic night music the most, and have done so since skinny puppy and front242 etc.
And I even like the tracks with the dakadaka bass sometimes, but can I dance to them......no

I think the most creative bassline in groovyness may come from "the nordic countries", but that´s propably because i live here and can relate to our sounds more easily.
I don´t like the dakadaka eithere, but bumdakabumdaka is better:)

..i think u are totally not right cause the most creative bassline comes from senegal, mogadishu, romania, vanuatu & poland of course...

..the bassline bumdakabumdaka it's most uncreative bassline i've ever heaqrd in my life...sorry but this bassline can't be groovness because the part "daka" has no enough low end to make the pants swirling...

...also i think the nordic basslines are mostly untuned cause there is very cold and all the artists wearing the fury hats...so their ears ale full of swet..and it's impossible to make the bassline in tune...

...also i think the bassline should be a bassline and groove must be a groove...

...i think i have fuckin right and if someone doesn think so - he has no taste and he is from etiopia.

Just listen to Wizzy Noise if you don't like the sound of russian basslines.. thats what i do.. i find that its boring.. especially because, like mentioned about, its in every track from the whole label and there close friends.. it gets very redondant.. one or two tracks in a set or an album is great, but not too much.. but thats the same for anything that gets overused..

And i think Vision and Canedy is psycadelik.. its very intense music, with lots of deepness. but to each there own definition of psycadelic
