pretty sure people have been dancing to music for thousands of years - and I may be overly semantic but to me that qualifies as dance music
if tribal drums aren't your thing though, i'm sure some of the ol' swing music from back in the day way before synths was considered dance music as well
Sure there are many, many, many other examples throughout history of music made specifically for dancing to that far, far predate the sampler.

I think you are the only one who does not instantly think about Electronic Dance Music when someone write "Dance Music".

nah he's not the only one. Any form of music that is made for dancing should be considered dance music. Not just electronic music. In fact, not all electronic music is made for dancing (ambient and downtempo).

Vocals as in singing, No!! "NO SINGING" lol well at least I haven't heard any yet that works.
As far as talking samples or stuff everything is game as a sound source I think. Sampling a movie can be just as creative. not plagiarizing but being inspired. there are a lot of cheesy drug references and such but if people are creative with their samples then it only adds to the story and yeah it has always been illegal.
@dance music thing you guys are funny

Vocals...now there's an interesting point.
Well, I think it can be done - but probably not with the english language we use in this forum for example.
For something like psychedelic trance, you'd need a language with a smooth flow, you wouldn't want it to distract you...I think there are some middle eastern languages that could be sung and put in psytrance with success.
It all depends on how you use the voice I think...Gregorian Chant sung in a very distinctly psychedelic way would be interesting. I'd like to hear some Gregorian chanting looped and used as a melody in some Goa, maybe use it like an acid line.

I have yet to hear any good singing done, although Michele Adamson has done some ok work IMO.
I do enjoy samples of the old 60's & 70's rock that has been sampled into some of the darker psy.
I saw Infected Mushroom on a free ticket a few weeks back, it was a nightmare. I could tell that even the guitarist was faking his playing, I used to play and could see the fingers position on the fret board did not match what was coming out of the speaker.
