boom babas!

i was wondering what do our hindu gods like shiva, ganesha, etc have 2 with psytrance?

why are they constantly seeked as a symbol of psychedelic trance? specially the harmonius monosyllable OM

its ok when an artist or 2 take them as an inspiration to create muzik..but now every1 is inspired by the samething

juss wondering

this is probably not a full enough answer:
i think it has to do with the origins of this music coming from the tranceyt tribal ritual goa vibes mixing with the europeans who came from the electronic side of the spectrum... the mix of the two created the fabric. like i said im sure there is more to this thne what i wrote...           "On the other hand, you have different fingers."

Think Nataraja maybe?

Also of course, trance culture practically emerged in India (GOA trance), and Indian culture has a part in it.           ---------------------------------------------

how can indian culture have a part in it , when this form of muzik waz not created by an indian?

it waz created by drug induced foreigners who hav interpreted and potrayed our culture thru this muzik..but i as an indian and as a hindu myself find this muzik very very alien, totally unconnected to indian culture/history..

it appears to me more like a fashion or an "a huge advertising gimmick" to sell dope?

well i know these are the kind of thoughts my parents have...but damn i love this fashion

so here i go
i trust in trance n i love to dance!
har har mahadev!!!

BOoM!!!

Fashion for some, Spirituality for others!

The 'Ohm' connection: sang by monks overtone-style for centuries, harmonizes the body as the base note of it is a G, the note of universal vibration. Sound, and therefore music, is spirituality: Nada Brahma.

Bet you're glad to be fashionable - didn't you know hardhouse is much cooler though?

          Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!

When India was the surrounding and was imbaded in it, so the culture had a part in it. Indian culture and thought is quite different than the western one. In Goa a lot of cultures met, the Indian culture was one of them, and as it isn't something one can ignore (a big understatement) it became part of the trance culture. To some with deeper meanings, to others with shalower ones.

But this is what it is all about, a meeting of culture- of course it was interpreted by non-Indians, of course it difused Indian elements inside it, but this is I think only natural, as difusing elements of different cultures and beliefes is one of the basic elements of Indian culture.

There are always people who are into selling, but believe me that when this culture originated there was nothing further than selling or money in the ppl's mind, it was a true spiritual connection, a connection of love for India and its culture mostly.           ---------------------------------------------

i think Indian Gods have nothing with trance and trance ppl,
we dont look for Moksha (moksha means get out of life after life cycle, get out of it and be with main and tottal high power), and this Gods connected to Induism that have nothing with our religion.
we r not baharma and dont have dhaharma, so i guess shiva will not help us

Zombi, again stop with that "neo-raver" attitude of yours. The fact that the spiritual connection between the crowd, the music and the culture isn't strong today is because people look at trance music as just another style to dance to at raves. For other people, trance is more than that, it's a music for 'modern meditating', for travelling inside your thoughts in a way that's very profound. I think that this was the original intent of goa trance, and as such it does have a connection to the Indian spirituality. Of course, this is a western way of adapting such concepts, but that's what's beautiful about it.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

i say nothing against meditation and spirtual into myself retrospecting, i just say there is nothing between Indian Gods and us, Jews for example... we have another God, single one.. we dont belive in Moksha.. how can we be connect to Gods that is not from our own religion ??
i by myself do Dzen meditation for a years now, but thats not mean i belive in other religion, im a ateist in fact, dont believe in any God, but respect as well..
Meditation is a way to traveling inside your, relaxing and auto control, Trance is a way of most funny meditation, but thats not make us connect to Gods of any kind..
may be we should make our own psychedelic Gods, like 2000 Microgram and his wife XTC           Believe your soul !

Personally I am dead tired of people always saying boom shankar when they know nothing about it's meaning.... Anyway we are living in Europe, Israel, USA ect ect and not in India !!!

It's for sure becomed a fashion among goa freaks to use words like that constantly so they can fit in to the crowd..... I have nothing against using indian or other religious symbols in the music, heck I have used it myself, but I just think it would be nice if people actually knew something about the culture and it's religion before they use it's phrases and words.

its sounds very stupid to me to hear somebody say bom shankar or mama shiva or thing such that coze 90% or even more have no clue of what is it and what a meaning it have to real India ppl and their religion..
think if alot of abroad dudes will use our religion signs to tottaly not right ways, i think we were feel like we wanna kill them, hope india ppl dont think like that...           Believe your soul !
