I am sure you would. Then just call it something else than "unity". The whole scandinavian scene is so much more than psy and many of the pionners and later arriving artists do something else than psy but are still very much connected and a part of the scene. Then I suggest you call it for what it is. A psytrance festial - no progressive trance / house / electro allowed.

Thank you, even if you didnt mean it i felt flattered. However i must turn down a such offer since i have other far more important missions to maintain. (Actually creating trance music)

In order to have a festival running for several days, presenting a broad selection of music from all 4 countries i think it takes a rather open mind (even more open than mine).

Ok so maybe YOU think "unity" is the wrong word for a festival uniting the psychedelic sounds of northern europe, maybe it is, who cares?
I think that we do need a prober festival to strengthen our scene i general.
As for the "Then I suggest you call it for what it is":
A psytrance festival usually includes progressive, since the progressive trance that is being mentioned here is in fact psychedelic progressive trance, yet another branch of goa trance (was that where this started?  ).
Another thing, lets say the pioneers all had choosen gameboy as their sequencer/synthesizer and vocal disco pop as their genré?
Would they still be very much connected and a part of the scene?
I think some of the pioneers have choosen other ways of expression, that i hardly find compatible with the concept (whatever it may be).
I think "unity" could be a good word for a gathering that picks up the broken pieces after "psytrance is dead" and the conclusion has been made that "psytrance evolution is finnish"

If this unity festival should include all scandinavian scene, then I guess it should involve jazz, black metal, techno, and folk music aswell. But why not try to unite the people in the psy scene rather than all scenes? Well it could be a good thing uniting the scenes aswell, but I think that should be some steps further. For now I think we should(could) focus on uniting the psychedelic trance people of scandinavia, rather than unite all of scandinavia |
