One thing I love about Sonar is how you can apply VST effects to individual parts of audio samples. That's really useful for this sort of thing.

I just like to say one thing regarding the talk about Logic vs Cubase vs Sonar vs FL:
Ableton Live effect racks.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Yeah, I tried something like this in Ableton. I set up 4 different effect tracks (beat repeats, multiple flangers, Glitch, etc.), had my beat loop going to all 4, recorded effected versions, then cut up the results and mixed them together.

I'll try to post the result later this evening. It's pretty interesting. Very busy and frenetic.

The thing with the effect racks is that you can use different chains and then switch between them by drawing chain selector values in the automation.
You can also put racks inside racks, so if you like a rack effect put that in one of the chains.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

You could do that. I use specific audio tracks recording specific effect send/return tracks to kind of save my CPU. Once the effected sound is rendered to a new audio file (or series of audio files) you don't have to use that effect track. It's kinder on my limited machine.

You could have effects feeding back on each other. But the result could get quite chaotic and dissonant. If you're not careful you could create crazy feedback.

Which could be cool if that's what you're looking for.

Be that as it may, Ableton is amazingly versatile.

Does it have parallel chains as well?           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

Infinitle mixers and limitless routing possibilities in reason so... I guess so. It's sure much more CPU friendly anyways. I think I was just being arumentative for the sake of it though, as I'm a Sonar boy

Yeah but with Sonar, it's ONline. It only runs the plugins at the moments it plays the clip, so it saves processing power, but the plugins are there available to be edited whenever you want.
