I recently heard (read) about a scene developing in Beirut, Lebanon, and was wondering about the situation of psy-trance culture in muslim countries.
I was really happy to read about the lebanese scene (at first with some doubt, but then with great joy), and am hoping that one day ppl from both side of the border could dig together to the same music.
Since our (Israeli) situation prevents us from getting a lot of information about what's really going on in neighboring countries, please provide info about the scene in these parts - does it exist? how big? how does the authorities handle the parties? do trancers from arab countries need to travel outside their countries to experience the psy-life?

*a small suggestion: most israelies know the "shouting hill" next to the lebanese border - why shouldnt someone make a "shouting" party there, so our neighbours could enjoy also?
Break the walls with enough loud music!

smiles, and take it easy,
T

I'm with you Tal
Btw, I'm afraid all of these party posts on Chaishop in the Lebanese section are false. Somebody is writing some bad jokes. Not very nice. Ther are 3 parties posted there now, and none of them seems to be true.

nice one helen;) i personally have wondered at this in my own sheltered way for ages now. I have asked people i know from these areas how the music/scene fit into such a landscape, i.e. political+religious turmoil etc. but many have told me it is in the north of israel where it is all fine like anywhere else, yeh?

Here in Australia we have it err.... well, easy, to say the least. and i am always sending good thoughts to places where freedom might be a little harder to come by;) I do not want to offend anyone, i have never been to europe, the middle east, or arab countries but will meet you all next year for sure.

It is good to hear this report, and am curious also about the details. I am jealous of you all living in places with THOUSANDS of years history while Australia has only two hundred years of modern development, [thats after the indigenous people had their lands taken]... i feel the deep and long history of your countries from way over here, really i do, and wish to be able to experience at least part of it in peace with you all one day.

respect!           the FATLINE is ending www.myspace.com/suncontrolspecies

I doubt if there are any parties in neighboring arab countries. Most arab families have no time or money for parties, they're busy feeding their families.

That's how it looks from here anyway...

That's the same as saying "israelis don't have time for parties, they're busy blowing arabs with rockets".

I knew somebody would say that
The difference is, most of the people in arab counties are poor, and that's a fact.
Poor people don't have time for parties, or music...

the finansial issue... i think that those who have money are not so into the music bussines...
and ofcourse there is the social issue which isnt so good right now.
but still, i dont know much. its hard to know about trancers over there from here.
very nice topic helen. its realy interesting how things are realy going on (if they have any...)

and party on the boarder. nice idea... hope we will survive. (its not a secret that the situation is not good). hope things will be different.
