Thanks for the topic Helen, nice one indeed...
We (Bug System) are the people mostly responsible for psytrance events in Lebanon, for as much as i know there is no other crew or Dj over there that organises such events and so far there hasen't been any big name or live act brought to our country (we're working on that), we've been the only local Dj's playing psytrance. I guess u cannot say that there is an existing psytrance scene in Lebanon, but we're introducing the people to this sound and they're defenitly enjoying, so there is no doubt that a scene is growing over there.
We organised 6 parties this summer that met quite a success (600 to 700 night birds each). Unfortunatly me and my mate Stamina are back in Paris where we live, so i guess not much is happening over there at this time.

Lebanon has been a party country for ages...nightclubs(house, RnB, etc...)...pubs... and even stripclubs!!!! so it's very different from any other arab country (u can buy alchool anywhere at any time for example). It's not a muslim country (the population is divided in half between muslims and christians). The fact that it's a country with 50% christians makes it more open i guess, even when it comes to the muslim population, u'll find lots of open minded people.

For the parties posted on CHAISHOP, as ravergirl said, i beleive they're fake ...it sounds like non sens to me...one of the parties advertised is actualy at the club where my mate and i played all summer, so we're getting in contact with the club owner ASAP to know the truth behind that, but my guess is that even he will be surprised when we tell him about it...so i'll keep u posted on that one...

Finally our dream would be to organize that festival on the border and have our two people dance & smile to the same sounds...we really hope we'll be able to interact one day, with no political restrictions...when that day comes we'll put all our efforts in realizing that dream... until then we'll keep on spreading the culture and the music

very nice job Nandi.
My roommate is from Lebanon and that thread put a huge smile on his face for the rest of the day.

Keep up the good work my friend!           Both teams played hard

Boom Nandi!
My interest in the issue started while I stayed in Denmark with my best mate Fahed (D-vei, I love you man!), originaly from Kuwait. I guess its very strange for us to believe that ppl who live in more fundemental and orthodox countries like the arab countries can be exposed to this type of underground music (again, this is my uneducated view, I dont really know how it is like there). I can understand Dance, R&B, Reggae and even Club house penetrating, since you can catch it off the air in MTV and other TV/Radio shows from abroad. But psy-trance is so underground, that you actualy need to go to places where its already established to get exposed to it. right?

And for the israelis among us - why is it that everybody is blessing the scene going up in Lebanon and hoping to party together one day, but most of the times avoid or critisize parties where arabs are present? a little point of thought...

Love&Light,
T

i wanted to open a new topic about that...now that it's here i guess i'll be able to get answers to my questions. Well first of all through the lecture of many topics in the party review section i realised this problem, and well i have to say that many people here have had bad experiences with these arab people...i read one thing about Rinkadink being pushed off stage by them...etc which is really not a way to treat such a talented artist...
So my question is are these people Israeli arabs or are they palestinian???
And another thing i didn't get is the meaning of "Arsim", to whome does this refer???
Thx for enlighting me on my ignorance...

i wanted to thank Nandi and Stamina (Bug System) for the good job they are doing in Lebanon.
Lebanese and Middle eastern people are starting to discover the true meaning of psychedelic trance. They still have a long way before they could be in trance themselves but they already did more than half the path.
Keep confidence
Stay positif
And good luck

Arsim refer to a group of people that usually come to show off/destroy the party/take drugs/everything at once.

Arsim is also an insultive 'term' in every-day hebrew language. It refers to people, usually darker in skin color, who dress up and act in a disrespective way.

What does color of the skin have to be with being an "Arsim" ? Seem weird to me.... White colored people can indeed be Arsims too.

I am currently in Doha, Qatar... small peninsula in the Persian Gulf. There is absoloutely no psy scene here... and I see no basis for it to every be considering the people's mentaly here.           How am I supposed to hallucinate with all these swirling colors distracting me!

Because of the strange social groups. Trance might become popular, in the way of people listening to it and going to parties, but there will never really be that feeling of the undergroud.

I was thinking of spinning trance in some clubs, the people would like it, but they will never really understand it... that's just the way it is. Maybe some westerns would, that have been living in "normal" countries... but that's about it.           How am I supposed to hallucinate with all these swirling colors distracting me!
