this SA forum has had to much negativity recently. now im not one 2 stop debate - but some of the topics have been less debate and more abuse. not very constructive, not very positive. so can everyone just chill pls? i can just imagine how people from around the world think the SA psy scene is a warzone (which it is not).
just look up at the mountain and let the good vibes return.
looking forward 2 the rest of 2006 with positive energy, online and on the dance floor. |

The bad vibe springs from the fact that South African trance collective is by far the most political and judgmental sceene on planet..There is no real trance-respect in SA..trancers love dissing eachother as well as producers albeit local or international..We always have something to say about eachother and our neigbours..Those who are not regular trancies per say, don't really care as they just come to a party for party sake and to have a good time with their friends ,regardless who's playing etc..(how I miss that)
Well ,that is just not true of this minority trance collective that are like a swollen cist, just waiting to explode and infest everything around them...Things are certainly not looking any better in the future |

heavy daze....
Theres defintely a common theme running through all the flames and thats about trance becoming too commercial and about newbs entering the scene who are just not the real trancehead (perhaps even spilling in from Gallery (heavens forbid)) and so on....
I think theres only one solution and thats for ppl to stop taking it so seriously. I mean in the end of the day its the trance scene not a religion.
When I got into the SA scene 5 years ago people were already saying "trance is becoming so commercial. too many people at the parties blah blah blah". I didnt really pay any attention to it then and I try not to pay too much attention to it now.
We all love the trance scene. And at some time or another im sure all of us have approached some non-trance friend of ours and said "you have to come to a trance party. it'll blow your mind!!!" And then they come and they see how fucking cool it is and they come back (bringing some of thier even less trancy friends).
Its like The Beach and we are all Daffy Duck drawing maps and then crying when the renegade ganga farmers raid us with thier machine guns!!!
I think we all need to just sit back and enjoy the ride. Or become those complaining grandfathers sitting on their porches saying "I remember when trance music was more pyschadelic and everyone who came to the parties was dressed like a hippy. The youth of today have no respect, running around in their designer clothing and listening to this boom boom music. tsk tsk"

You know... the term "commercial" is used so selectively.
Once you pay for something, it immediately becomes a commercial commodity.
So, if you're paying to get into a party... it's commercial.
If you're paying for a psytrance CD.... it's commercial.
Just have fun... enjoy the experience. That's the main thing. Remember that the energy is within you to make every party experience a beautiful journey... regardless of external stimuli...
Negativity breeds negativity..
Let's stay positive!
  Mind my mind. |

agreed with apsydrop , except commercialism is only commercialism when the sole gain of the party organiser is too make money and when you have poeple joining a scene due to its popularity and not because they love what the scene is, and when greed sets in from thos who have the ability to make money from the scene.... |
