You know, I have seen lots of crap on this forum between people who don't like this type of music and those who don't like so'n'so artist and it seems that people are incapable of being tolerant of others. How is the human race supposed to survive and evolve without tolerance? It seems that negativity propogates more negativity and we run around in this great big circle till one of many things happen:
1. We stop caring about the subject that caused so much ire to begin with.
2. We become so engrossed in our own feelings about the subject being discussed that we lose sight of other positions on the situation.
And those are two of the better outcomes of the ordeal.
What happened to tolerance??? PLUR has become just another four letter word with as much power as using a swear word on a daily basis or saying peace. I know that many of you feel that this forum is a place for you to share your ideas and feelings and that is very true. What doesn't happen very often in this place is people having enough respect for their fellow man or woman to understand what the hell they are trying to say and not just discounting their opinion because it is different from yours.
Perhaps I am just some wierd ass idealist that believes way too much in people learning from each other, but how the hell can we learn from each other when we refuse to listen?

I don't believe in the word PLUR. It's easy to say or to write.
I believe in attitude.
I believe in people working to make things happen smoothly.
I believe in giving the example, so that maybe other people will see, think, and change.
Usually people who complain negatively are those who does nothing to change what they're complaining about, or if they do so, they usually fail because they choose the wrong methodology.
Constructive criticism is good, but is very different from bashing with meaningless words.

Let's seperate 2 things. Respect for the people that do music or like to hear it. And the music itself.
I, personally, don't have anything against people that make or like dark psy, heavy metal, polka or whatever. What i do dislike is the music itself. The problem with the people nowadays is that they take every critics that was made about the music as a personal assault. Like, when i'm saying that what Goa Gil spins is not considered a music (mostly) i don't necessarily say that Goa Gil is a bad man or that i hate him or something.
People, don't take it personal. I like Beethoven and Wagner , they were real cunts in their personal life. Does it mean that i must hate their music as well?
Same when i'll say that good amount of dark psy that i am being exposed nowadays is just uncoherent stream of noises, i never mean that i hate the person behind it.

I have to agree wit Pavel. I really dont understand why people get so upset when someone say that he/she dont like a certain artists music. The ones that's intollerant are the ones that attack someone for being critic against an artists music. We cant all fall to out knees and praise the same music as the majority in this forum. And to be attacked because you critisise an artists music is juvenile and quite typical in this forum.

i disagree with u, mubali.
cause i think that no one really gets deeply offended from silly posts on the net. and many ppl enjoy a good thread flame, that's why there r always so many replies. it's fun to sit at home and psychoanalize ppl based on a post or 2, and since everyone does it to each other, everyone feels superior and good about themselves. it's a win-win situation. :)
seriously, if anyone gets hurt by forum posts, i think it's a sign that they need a life.
mubali, cummon admit it, u din't really get upset, u're just having fun opening another potential flame thread.
u know that none of these ppl would go and punch someone in the face for listening to this or that music (cept maybe 5-meo-geo :D ).
so i say: moderators, plz leave the flames, they're the most fun part of this forum anyways.
and all u regular flamers and flamer-bashers, keep on flaming and bashing! ur posts r often the most entertaining :)
p.s. - floatyhippyflower, i really had hoped u would change ur nick to floatyhippyfuckinwhatever. u let me down :( |
