sounds like you had a recent disillusionment, particularly regarding a microcosm of genre and style this particular israeli-based server tends to focus on. Therein lies the challenge- instilling a deep sense of empathy and compassion onto others, whoever they may be. Now, it may be that for the world to function in a dynamic and ever-flowing manner that the disassociative chaos and disconnection is necessary to drive the process, witness Shiva. For example, in the long-run it may be a foolish thing to solve world issues like hunger and disease because, guess what, you've got 30 billion people living on top of each other. That a world of lovey-dovey happy-hippy-dippy people yields a somatic and dull existence. However, i'd be willing to have everyone try the benevolent possibility first before the possibility of smashing the calm. I, of course, am in a priviledged and arrogent position to posit this, that being a landowner who shits a baby's weight each day.
I've been posting stuff on computer networks since the early 80's. I've been involved in and witnessed many an escalation into flame wars. These psytrance lists aren't any different. Maturity and wisdom take hold in a few able to recognize the burdgening escalation, appropriate diplomacy is applied, and the discourse maintains a semi-productive (or less time-wasting) vein. Many people are just plain clods and will get sucked into the mob-mentality manifesting as a flame war. And perhaps we'll never learn. Besides, we all want to be right and one way to acheive this illusion is to make other people people feel wrong.
Regarding all these sub-genres, there's a right time and place for all of them, especially Goa Gil and his Orc army of tracks.
