that could be a better system zooter and TiMMY i dont think so..well for me. Just gives an indication of what I would expect, it depends on who is reviewing it. If this guy like progressive , his review on a full on album will be different and etc ... so will be the rating.

Something that a lot of people miss in their reviews is a definition of style.
Yes we all hate definitions but when making a review this one is important. You make give an album 10/10 and say that it rocks and stuff when it's actually dark-psy which is undoubtfully the genre my ears hate the most

I have not read this whole thread just yet and am not sure if a similar suggestion has been made, but if so apologies. I comment on this because this is an issue that really bugz the crap out of me! I just started getting into psytrance and was really keen to get more into it. I bought a couple of cd's that were must haves (hallucinogen, shpongle, prometheus & panick). Recently I bought four more cd's that had nothing but good reviews here (sub6, xerox & illumination, hydrophonic & astrix), that turned out to be absolutely lousy! I guess it's my own fault for entrusting my decision making to this forum, whatever, at this point I still feel very disillusioned about whether to get any more into psytrance.
Anyway, my suggestion is perhaps the profile of members could be expanded to allow adding what cd's they like (and also maybe a small space to tell us a bit about themselves). That way if I encountered a review by them I could check out their credentials/ interests/ preferences before deciding whether to take them seriously.
This might be a bit more difficult, but perhaps also add a vote page for each member. You access this page through their profile, and submit a vote out of 5. Anyone can add their vote, only once but with an option to change, and will be viewable by other members. The overall result of the votes can be surmised and attached to the author wherever they reply to a review as follows:

Rating : 5 (@ 20 votes))
This way I can see if this person has backing from anyone else (and who is backing them too if check their profile out).
Maybe a vote option can be added to topics (reviews) as well? Not only can a member vote (once) for the topic, but their rating will impact on the impact of their vote (the vote of someone with a rating of 5 gets 100% impact, whereas someone with a rating of 1 only has impact of 20% (rating 1 guy decides to vote 5 on a topic, result is only 1 (the average rating of the votes can be shown next to the link to that topic, so a person can see what cd has received a good or bad vote))).
Okay, forget it. This is getting pretty complicated!
