i completely with trip...
it had to be said...
there are way to many people giving good grades to albums when they don't even seem to like it that much...
i don't think there is anything wrong with criticizing an album as long as it is done with respect for the artist and the person(s) behind the music.
i get tired of reading great reviews about just about every album that comes out lately...
Reviews are there for people to find out if they would like smthg or not, but it has become increasingly dificult these days... |

That's why I always listen to samples of the albums online a couple of times nowadays before buying. To see if I dig it or not. I've bought albums that got great reviews in the past and not liked them. It's even been the other way around sometimes. That everybody thought something wasn't really good and I still decided I liked it. Anyway, what it all boils down to is personal taste, and with that in mind you could never trust most reviewers...

I just review cds that i like,when i dont like something i dont review it firstly because i know that my word counts for some people (like others words count for me) and i dont want to make negative comments about releases because i dont like affecting peoples opinion negatively about something and secondly i dont review things that i dont like because music is a matter of taste and i prefer showing to the people the things that i like instead of the things that i dont like.
Plus when i review something negatively i receive angry phonecalls from artists and label managers (like Yulli for example LOLOLOL) and i dont have time to deal with them anymore.

that logic doesnt make any sense to me, if you want your word to countfor some people, you have to write bad reviews, otherwise everyone knows that your reviews are biased to only the good side.
otherwise everyone sais it already, so will put it in the form of simple logic
Premise a:i only buy cds i like,
Premise b:i only review cds i really listened to,
Premise C:im not a pirate, so i only really listen to cds i buy
Conclusion: Only good reviews
Exception to therule: Cds i buy blindly thatturn out to be a disappointment, for example cosmic tone going solo, here i write bad reviews (and if you check out the other re views that cd really did suck)

actually, i got this idea from amazon.com
instead of putting 9/10 or 10/10 usage of stars...say 4 1/2 stars out of five or grades, say A grade would be much better.
A grade or star is relative while rating is final (sort-of). my opinion |

Can you honestly say that a numeric rating (or any other) can reflect the amount of excitement/joy/whatever you can get from a CD? |
