I wonder if someone can help me with a few questions regarding RME USB Interface (Babyface)....being this my first usb interface i dont want to mess it up.
As the Babyface doesnt turn off once i turn off the computer (or eject the device) what is the best way to turn the interface off besides pluggin it out of the usb?
Also i was wondering if it is ok to use the babyface for winamp, soundcloud, youtube? The RME instructions are not totally clearv to me....they advise to turn the sounds of windows off (which i have since ever) but also that it shouldn't be used as a device for playback...
Thanks in advance....

If it remains on and your PC is OFF that means that you are not using USB as power source. So you are using either battery or external power source. If there is no switch for that on babyface to switch between USB power and external power(such as a battery), then check your PC, why its USB port is powered after you turned it off.

I'm not using any external power source only USB but to turn the interface off (lights out) i need to turn off the computer and then turn it off manually (button in the back of the computer case). If i only turn off the computer (shut down) the lights of the interface stay on

I think you could set it in BIOS to turn USB power off by powering off the PC.

Still do you think there is any harm in doing like i describe previously? (turn off manually)

hi all,
i am thinking about getting a new audio interface and i am not sure which one i should get.
one of the following cards will make it i guess:
rme fireface uc
roland octa capture 1010
presonus audiobox 1818
i am sure, that a lot of people here are using the rme, its my favorite too but its a lot of money..
so if anyone here is using the octa capture or the presonus and could give me some feedback i would rly appreciate it

hi
looking to get a soundcard for 300$ or less
can be usb, but i dont mind going with a pci one if it will have less latency and better sound.
also i dont need many inputs/outputs 2-4 is enough (i think...i will only be using 1-2 instruments simultaneously)
any advice guys? |

pff...
I bought "Behringer Fca 202" just to find out that it doesn't have 64bit support... So now i downgraded back to Xp 32 bit and it's working but latency is terrible and sound pops and crackles after few VSTi's...
I have tried asio4all and fca 202 native asio.
Any suggests?
I bought it because it's a cheap firewire and should have pretty good latency they say.

Firewire is a NO-No these days:
In order to firewire to work properly you need that the cip used is a Texas instrument's one, there is no laptop in the market with one. In desktop is more common to see TI chips but it's not 100% sure.
The other problem is that most manufacturer no longer develop drivers for their FW since they have been out a good number of years.
