yesterday I got a Fireface UC, I was pretty tired of my saffire 6 usb latency.

What a difference It can go down to 64 samples!

And the sound is great.

I've been using Tascam US-122mkii so far, but i wan't to buy i new one, maybe you guys can help me?
What i need:
Usb connector (No firewire on my laptop)

2 Stereo Outputs (I wan't to play 2 tracks at a diffrent outputs, so i can mix them on a hardware mixer)

Some stereo inputs, i am going to buy some hardware synts, but don't need something fancy for guitar or vocals because i never recorded that kind of stuff.

I was thinking to buy something from NI, what would you guys recommend?

I've recently bought the Focusrite Scarlett 8i6, which has everything you need, runs on USB (2.0) and has so far served me very well. It's a relatively cheap interface, but I think it sounds great for the money. It's worth considering

For me it was a BIG difference from saffire 6 usb to fireface UC. I feel almost every interface can do the trick, but then one day you might want to upgrade for a number of reasons (ins, outs, stability, mic pre amps, driver support, latency performance). And RME is the best you can get (along apogee duet) below 1,000.

Also, if you are on windows make a search around, there are a good number of documented issues of with the motu.

If you can, try the babyface.

Well, since I had a saffire 6 I can coment on the diferences:

Lower latency by far. Saffire I had to use at least 1024 sample rate, even on simple projects, (my pc is a core i5, desktop) With the fireface I can go down to 64 in small projects. With big projects 256 is totally stable (unless you use super heavy cpu plug-ins in mass)

The ouput is far more louder
The routing matrix is very very usefull if you are working with hardware.
The inputs have less noise and are more clearer.
Sound is better, but well I consider this a little subjective. I can hear a clear difference, some may not.

You should try some of your options if you can and the vendor has a good return policy, its not like you have to register the drivers or something.

Which external USB soundcards have good drivers for Win7 64 bit?

My ESI Juli@ seems to be unstable... Maybe it's time to change it?

Please don't advice me M-audio, I have too bad experience with it to try again
