I'm using an Audiotrak Maya 1010 (10in/10out - 1/2 ins with phatom power) for about 2 months and I'm happy with it. No problems till here. I use Logic 5.5.1 and Windows XP.

For anyone on a budget, I highly recommend the EMU-404/Proteus. For the low price you will get good quality! Its not a dreamcard but it will do in a pinch, or as secondary soundcard : )

i will try to be more specific and objective further on..

and it would be nice that all of you that recommend cards do it in a technical manner...

what typ of OS and Cpu and Motherboard

im going to present some cards and elaborate on them....

just to give us a good base...

cards like, Motu, Rme, Echo, Digidesign, M-Audio,
it would also be nice if someone who has a card that you feel is not mentioned, give us a technical review and comments...

do you guys think that its better to link to the manufacturers homepage, to save us from reading things that we might not want to read?

if you whant to go a bit up the scale go with Lynx sound cards, like the Lynx Two or the AES16. I have the Lynx Two Model C and its the best sounding card ever, in my opinion, and in all the reviews ive read and also in the specs of the card itself! Its juste a bit more pricy than other sound cards, because it has the best AD-DA converters of all.

i know someone recomended them before...

tribalizer - actually, after reading some about the lynx cards im getting pretty horny...
and as i want a Pci card this could well be it...

but for the sake of the cause i think it can be good for me and everybody to make some comparisons...

i will be back with more meat on the bones...

yeah maybe i should get a delta 1010 and buy some external mic preamps, and a bigger mixer and a midi interface

maybe it is the best way...

nolightatend - okej..
im also up for a new one,,, but i need more ins and outs... and i dont want usb or fw either...
if i was you i would save up for a echo or rme card..

the thing is that i want to be able to expand my system to 5.1 so i need more outs, and im planning on recording with many mics at once, and some synths... so i need more ins

so 10 I/O would not hurt...
its very difficult to know what to get... when you want quality...

nolightatend - you read my mind! i was thinking about those expension cards, and a yamaha mixer aswell... hehe pretty funny that you just said it

anyway hope you sort it out... i have a friend who has both Echo Layla and Gina.. and he have had not much problems what i know of...

i think i will look into your option about Rme and expension card... and yamaha is my favorite brand, i have had no problem with their gear...
