There's TONS of free samples on freesound. Most of it is stuff that other people recorded with the intent that other people would sample it. Of course, it's all Creative Commons stuff, I think. So if that bothers you more than sampling something completely without clearances or anything, I wouldn't touch.

like most people here i use some wave editing / recording software to get the sample from the original (after using the stereo mix setup in my basic sound mixer). a little eqing and some reverb/echo solves most of the noise problems.

FL Studio users - I Use Wave Traveller to fool around with the sample. with tonal samples, you can even set the pitch to match that of the track by tweaking the speed and do a whole lotta stuff that can come in very handy.. this is one plugin that one can do amazing wavetable stuff with.. like a real quick version of melodyne.           "The Dancefloor is for those who usually can't afford to drink in the bar"

by the way, windows users can use sound recorder to record samples. it's quite sufficient really, keeping in mind that samples (in my case) dont really cross a minute. there's also an option of extending that minute.. but with a break. really handy for guys who hate doing a lotta work..

i generally maintain a folder where all my samples are laid to rest. sound recorder is always running when i'm watching something, so that whenever i hear any vocal/effect interesting, all i need to do is rewind a few seconds and hit the red button.

Just letting you know:

G-Sonique Digital Instruments has announced the release of Psytrance Drum Kit #1, a WAV-format Drum Kit especially orientated to psychedelic and progressive trance music production.

There is a free example pack including 80 free samples from that Drum Kit:
