if you are a cubase user you can also use cubase option import -> audio from video file and then cut out the part you like inside of cubase

cleaning up samples can be a chore to say the least. I've been using either Waves Z-Noise or Bias Sound Soap to clean up samples... of course you can just eq stuff too.. but if the sample is too dirty, I won't use it.

i'm all about sampling things from youtube. just run the link thru an online FLV to MP3 converter, download mp3, import to audacity, chop, use in music.

BIAS!!

You can analyze the frequencies using Reveal, but Sound Soap and a noise gate will get you most of the way there. With EQ and some effects, you might not hear any junk at all.

Someone says Reason is a waste of money? With all the Refill material you would need years to explore the possibilities. And Thor has to be one of the best soft synths ever. I've seen the Reason sound design gurus at work and there is a whole universe of possibilities that the beginner or intermediate user won't see until you dive into the books and tutorials. Sucks that audio files are not supported but I have a feeling there will be a solution for that in the very near future.           ELECTRON EYES / MARK-EVAN (NOR. CAL)

UP!

How can I clean samples?

Ie I got a sound from youtube, but i want to keep only the voice, and delete or fade the musical theme (is a cartoon, i want only the voice but there`s a background sound)

is it possible? How to make samples like from youtube sound better?

THANKS IN ADVANCE []`S

check the post from mubali, basically all said there
.
This plugs can save a sample sometimes.Imean Z-Noise and this sorta waves plug ins are nice and very good for this job sometimes.
Than eq can lighten it up or darken the sound colour as intended to your likings.
I myself wouldnt recommend to sample from any sources like youtube etc.. cause of bitrates, noise and simply a lack of quality in sound ,generally.
But sometimes in old material is golden idea which has to be cleaned etc well atleast sampled
But than again apart from a unique idea try to find the best quality source like better cd than vinyl etc.

For youtube I would have in mind that eq and z-noise etc should be friends for this operation. All imo of course.

There's TONS of free samples on freesound. Most of it is stuff that other people recorded with the intent that other people would sample it. Of course, it's all Creative Commons stuff, I think. So if that bothers you more than sampling something completely without clearances or anything, I wouldn't touch.

Yeah, it really depends on what you're trying to design. Sound-design-wise. Freesound really helps in a pinch when you're looking for a specific kind of sound, if you're lucky enough to find it on there.

It's also really good for tons of geotagged nature sounds. Lots of birds and forests and such.
