Best regards Conny |

Conny,
I was told yesterday that there are two version of the VB-1, one is red and the other is silver. The red one apparently has a clicking sound in it, while the silver (newer one) does not. So try the silver one, if you still have clicks, then EQ > locate and remove clicking.

Hey, has anyone heard of "Zoyd"? It is a free synth available on macmusic.org. Anyway, I've made basslines with a lot of synths, but this is the best one I have used. It us truly amazing, and free...
Check it out. www.u-he.com/zoyd/
Hope it helps someone. |

hmmm... you people using the muon tau for full-on
it has lousy envelopes, so i can't make my bass fit
the V-station seems to distort everything at the low-end (or maybe i'm just dumb)
i'm still lacking a nice bass synth... sux
roll a joint or STFU :) |

Abit of technicalities now
with the Muon Tau i find this works best:
write your notes in at 1/64
bounce it to an audio track then cut the audio file and fiddle around with the envelope then until you get the speed you like, maybe using a limiter if you need attenuation.
With the V-Station I find it really useful using a High-Pass between about 60 and 75 hertz usually gets rid of weird sounding sub frequencies.
Also if there are any specific frequencies you find sound bad, try using an eq with a notch and search through the frequencies, when you find a noise you don't like reverse the notch (but not all the way).
if you have a limiter/compressor added the other frequencies become attenuated as well, and you get a 'drier' sound.

you don't have many options when you're using reason. subtractor is my bass synth, it's not the mother of all bases for sure, maybe step mother. the sound isn't phat and instead of side chaining to the kick, I have to write automation. after eq and compression it sound not too bad. |

sy000321, seriously... You're not lacking a synth, you're lacking knowledge... Keep at it, both the synths u talk about in your post have already been used with succes in official releases... hayez, same thing... But i do have one hint, don't use the compression/EQ from reason, those actually do suck, not the subtractor... Unless they made a new compressor and a new EQ since version 2.5... |

ES- 1 and ES-M for logic...
I have found some good basslines using the Albino..
When I first got started, I used the vb-1 as well.. I still really like that bass, but I wanted to try a different instrument.
The Audiorealism bassline instrument is really good. I like it better than the Tau or Tau Pro... I tried to use the trilogy a few times, but didn't really like it very much.
An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines. |

when using vb-1 on sx1.06 it seems only to "scratch" low frequencies, (i think its because it has no envelope generators like z3ta or v-station etc) and when i write k-bbb basslines it looks like one note is missing in the end. any idea why this happen ? maybe eq ? |

i'm getting too frustrated with the v-station... i can cut all the low end from it with a HP, but i don't think it's a great option...
roll a joint or STFU :) |
