In any trance I would set the key after the best sounding bass tone. If it is C or E or whatever does really not matter IMHO.
However, when you make other types of music with lots of chords, I would prefer E, A or D as I consider it easier to use other instruments (non-keyboard) with those.

this one is a phaser? bitcrush?
maybe settings, I'm really curious
like this techy sound but it has also lazerish in it I assume it's a phaser like on lyctums'
Looking at the waveform, it indeed seems like there was a phaser (probably Uhbik-P) used on it. I got quite close layering two saw waves (one low passed, one high passed), altering the mids and highs with Quadrafuzz and Uhbik-P. There is, however, a whole bunch of great bass sounds you can produce that way, some of which I like a lot better than the one in your example^^

yeah I "tried" the uhbik-P but it was not showed in my vst menu
I don't really want to recreate it's fine when one can but then you want to go along with other stuff anyway, at least this is true for me mostly

Any idea how to go about replicating this kind of sound?
I hear it more and more often nowadays, reminiscent of deep techno imo. Sounds like two or more layers to me, one of them being a dedicated sub bass but what I'm having trouble with is the mid-bass layer.
It sounds way more voooom-voooom than a standard sawtooth off-beat bassline which has more of a accented pluck at the start of each note. I can also hear that bit of cutoff tweaking towards the end of a bar, and I'm guessing there's maybe a bit of a bitcrusher going down but what am I missing to that "vacuum cleaner" sound (if that makes any sense.)
I think the Ace track I posted used a Massive waveform for the sub, but I used Sylenth for my sub and Cronox2 for my mid-bass of the off-beat pluck. I just drew out a long sub note that lasts the whole bar. When it's sidechained to the kick it has a very nice pump.
Here's my demo, it's a bit tricky working with two bass channels, but I think there's a good a mix between mid and sub-bass. Let me know if the sub comes out too soft or loud. Mid-bass and kick is peaking at -12dB. Sub is about -16dB.
