is there any way to do this easier? like a quick change for all channels or routing output 1-2 to output 13-14 or something?

use the motu audio setup- you can freely assign the headphones from any of the source channels...
the ultralite is a super soundcard.
ive noticed the numbers are all shifted one off on the output though- is it because main outs are really 1&2?
-running cubase 4 and all free vsts and mostly using the built in prologue and spector in cubase. having a blast. just upgraded from 3 on pc...
still using logic for synths and plugins processing a bit... anyone know a good vst noise reduction solution for mac?

izotope rx advanced , wave arts audio restoration
  Nocturnal Wizardz Recs
Bhooteshwara Records
Cubasing is like Freebasing, just with audio.
Both cost more than you can afford, and leaves you sitting in a dark room with no life, craving for more. |

yeah.. osx 10.5.2 on an ASUS G1S notebook
recognized as a MACBOOKPRO
Im just trying the OSX world first... but the first
thing that Im stucked is with some VST that I use
in windows that there arent for mac.
I got a copy of Logic 8 to evaluate, but all the synths
that come with the box doesnt have the presets...
Is there any way to get them?? Im really interested in buying a MAC hardware, but I want to have sure, cause
its expensive...
The first impressive thing was the fidelity of sound in logic. I use Ableton on windows to produce, I dont know if its only my mind, but I really saw(heard) the diference in audio. (dont know if its from windows to mac or ableton to logic, but there is some difference)
Thanks guys. |

to start you don't need much more than NI.
look on kvr for freeware fx, later for a good eq and comp.
albino (linplug) and vanguard (refx) are very easy to setup (not like NI) and have a great (psy)sound, also for basslines.
for bassline with NI try http://www.sendspace.com/file/7jg739
and say thanks to forum member Glitch_CapeTown. or massive should do as well i guess.

for wich NI synth is this exactly please?

Hello,
I'm looking for a mac alternative to Sony Sound Forge. All I really want to do is make a kick like in the Infected tutorial. So I just need an app with those same functions that are the same as in Sound Forge as illustrated in the Infected tutorial.
Alternately: I use Logic 8. Is there a way to make a good psy kick in Logic |

Ultrabeat. take init kick and tweak. one envelope for volume. one for pitch. maybe layer two osc with sine/square. you can also use different pitch-envelopes for each. possible: distortion or slight filter with envelopes. short noise click for attack.
or es-1. turn osc's off and reso up. than tweak on cutoff envelope.
maybe it's not satisfying in the beginning but when u got used to it a bit u can make quite cool kicks. i mostly use these two synths for kick at the moment.
and try tweak while bassline is playing. nice to adjust to your liking. |

hello everybody
The forum seems to be for logic, but does anybody use live 7?
I got it on my PC a week before it crashed, and only got a taste of it.
Now, I got a Mac!!!:) and w/ logic express which I find
very limited and annoying in that sense.
I wanne lay down some $$$ for original software, so logic or ableton?? from about a week with each, I feel Live is the way to go.

Welcome to the world of Mac. Your IQ has just gone up a level.
Well, Live 7 is my primary DAW, I use it for arrangement and music creation. Automation in Live is incredible and you can customize the hell out of all the effects. I find it to be very user friendly. But Logic 8 has better sound and effects + it's good for creating sounds. Really it's great to have both.
Which one should you get first? IMO? Live 7. The Ableton forums are awesome and you can find all sorts of user patches and get really great tips and advice.
Have you considered Cubase ? I've never used it but it seems to be pretty standard for a lot of artists.
You can download a 14 day trial of Live 7 from the site. Give it a try. It's all about what works best for you and what you feel more comfortable using.
Good luck.

| Thanks Sly,I'll get to work on it.
I've been using Live 7's Operator. I'm not too pleased with it. It's OK. I'm just trying to find other options.
Hey if anyone can recommend something like Sound Forge for Mac that would be great. |

do you want to turn logic into one big livecut??
here is a simple trick I've stumbled upon at sonikmatter, for those of you who dont know about it...
I'll just quote it from sonik:
Quote:
| from sonikmatter:
I’ve been intrigued lately by electronic music falling under the subgenres of experimental, glitch, and IDM. There are a few plugins available that sort of screw up sounds in sync with tempo by randomizing effects and so forth, but I wanted to be able to have complete control over parameters and to be able to do it with any effect I choose. So I cooked up a way that I can randomize any parameter in any plugin (or all parameters in all plugins!) on any beat division I choose (ie any or all parameters randomizing on, say, every 16th note). You can come up with some really interesting (and/or bizarre) and continually random sounds, and all you need is a small army of Transformers!
Here’s the basics, starting with simply randomizing certain parameters in EXS24:
(I’m going to be explicit for the sake of noobs like myself.)
1. Create new Environment layer and name it “Randomization”.
2. Create a Delay Line object and a Transformer, and cable the Delay Line to the Transformer (I make sure to set “Repeats” to zero in the Delay Line). (This might not be the ideal way to get input into the randomization matrix, but I’ve been using a Delay Line because I need to play a sequence through a Transformer independent of any instrument, and Transformers don’t show up in the Arrange window.) This first Transformer stays default, because I use it purely for a distributor, and usually name it as such.
3. You’re going to need a Transformer for every parameter you want to randomize, but it’s best to start with one and copy it so you don’t have to keep setting up the basics that each one will need. So, create a Transformer, leaving the Conditions default, and set the Operations parameters to:
Fix: Fader
Fix: 2
Fix: (this one will change for each Transformer)
Random: 0-127 (the range might have to be adjusted for certain parameters)
IPB Image
(Now would be the best time to create an Audio Object for your EXS24, and cable the Transformer to it, so that your copies will automatically be cabled.)
4. Now, Alt-drag to copy the Transformer until you have enough for each Parameter you want to Randomize. I like the results of automating Course Tune, Cutoff, and Glide, so I created three Transformers, and named them appropriately:
IPB Image
5. You will have to change the third Operations setting of each Transformer to the appropriate Fader number for the Parameter. To determine the numbers, simply cable a Monitor object after the EXS24, and twiddle the appropriate knob, and the Monitor will tell you the number (Thanks to Vacheto for teaching me this!). For example, Cutoff is assigned to Fader number 25.
6. All that’s left now to create rhythmically randomizing parameters is to get a sequence into your array of Transformers. You need to set up a track in the Arrange page to put a sequence. I usually name the Delay Line “Randomizer Input” or something similarly appropriate, so I can set an Arrange track to “Randomizer/Randomizer Input”. Now, just create a sequence in your Randomizer Input track with a steady 16th note pulse (any pitch will do). Set it to loop if you want the randomization to continue indefinitely.
Now the chosen parameters in EXS will each randomize independently on every 16th note!
If you load a drum kit in the EXS, and you choose to randomize Course Tune like I did, I suggest you turn on “Looping” for all the samples. That way, when the tuning is high, rather than getting just a short click, you’ll get an interesting buzz. Now play a sequence through the EXS track. Instant IDM!
You can extend the idea by loading up effects in the EXS channel strip and randomizing their parameters in the same way. Just copy more Transformers and set the Fader numbers and the Fader channels in Operations appropriately (the first effect insert receives on Fader channel 3, and so forth). This way you can have any number of parameters on any plugin randomizing independently on every 16th note. Crazy!
|
|
so if u got enough time, you can make your whole environment moving in sync
have fun!

High there y'all. I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to logic, i've read through this apple forum and found some cool stuff, like this.
But when I set up my environment.
I first set it up with No physical input, and no sequencer output.
Set up my delay and transformer lines, and sent it to my ESX24 audio object. Tried sequencing a few notes, hit play, and no audio.
Tried adding the physical input and sequencer input to the start and end of the chain, still no audio.
I have the delay line selected as the track in my arrange window, but I still have no audio, can anyone halp me? |

hello, thanks for your reply DHP.
I think I'm gonna go for Ableton, I've tried it before, and yes, very nice interface.
So heres ANOTHER QUESTION>>>??
I also used Soundforge a lot in my PC daze,
but what do you guys use to record audio from your computer, like playing of a DVD.
I've tried garageband, but I get lank feedback using the Built in System for Audio input.
Am I just not setting it up right, or what do you'll use??????
Thanks
