So, when do you feel the best period was for psytrance (including all subgenres).

For me, I must say it was 1998-2002, due to the evolution within tech flavoured psy, the development in the dark variation, but also the emergence of progressive psy as well as full on.

An important side note would be the increase in psy scene oriented chillout releases as well.

Sure, there were great developments before 1998, but I think the sound as such first really matured during this period, therefore, for me, its the best.

So it became best right before it got worst? in your opinion?

I must say that I agree. I didn't get involved with "psy" before the year 2000 close to 2001. But then the music I found my self loving was majorly released between 1998 and up to the present in past (lets say 2001). So I guess it all went slightly more downhill after 2002 when "psy" had it's commercial boom or something. Just for the record. Israeli psy-trance was my absolut fav in the genre. Oforia, Sandman, IM, Freeman ect.

I do not agree. And why is that?

Because the sound quality got nothing to do with the overall quality of the music making and skills.

Just as there was damn good music pre 1998 there's good music today. You can't really generalise and say that the music is better from 1998 - 2002 or better today than pre 2002 etc. The technology has evolved drastically the last 10 years and today it's much easier to make music of high production quality. BUT it does not automatically result in more advanced music skills or music making. Sometimes I feel it's on the contrary

So my answer must be that there's no period better or worse than other periods. All periods have good and bad music.

the music that was in the 90's are still there..
Just grab your p2p program and download what ever makes you happy if you cant find it in stock and then please shut your noiseholes.

the best time of psytrance is tomorrow and the day after and so on!!!

Long live the evolution!!!!

Yes I can, because I liked more of the releases put out in that era, just like I found the evolution at that time to be the most interesting.

I dont generalize when I talk about my own individual taste. This topic is not about what the general consensus it, but when each person found the music to be the most interesting.

Very simple, very personal.

The future is definately the most interesting timeperiod.

This is, however, not what my topic is about. Its not about "the good old days were better" either.

Its about when you, as a person, fellt the music rocked the most. If thats the present for you, then thats good enough for me

The difference between today and yesterday is that Today we still play yesterdays music, but tomorrow will will not be playing todays music..

therefor yesterday was a little more intestesing IMO !           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9

the period happening now is the best.. psytrance is growing .. look around you .. so much better production.. so much new music .. so many new artists .. and a whole truckload full of new labels .. not to mention one endorsements from coke/pepsi .. lol ..

today there is so much choice .. back in 1997 .. no choice .. just one party .. one psytrance .. that was good too ..

peace,

Your in a confusing mood today huh Vinnie ?

Lets see if I understood you right, yesterdays music is timeless, but todays music wont be - At least not to us ?

Tried hard to catch the point, sounds good, hope I got it, if not, help me out

@ Krell : yeah, lets say i didn't feel like writing 10 pages on it at the time..

basically, you pretty much nailed it dead on..

But in other words.. people still rant about Simon P, when he hasn't produced anything for years.. when we look at todays music, there is SO much of it that nothing stands out and people will "forget" about it after a short while..

so yeah, i think that if you re-read what i wrote above, and replace the words "today" with 2006 and "yesterday" with "2000" and "tomorrow" with, well, tomorrow, it should make more sence..

here's a better example.. i'd play tracks from the first CPU album over the second album anyday.. Same goes for Midi Miliz,.. etc..

im not bashing todays' music though.. i just think that, it will take ALOT more for the people to remember your music in today's market !!           "VA - REWIRED" OUT NOW !! (techtrance invasion) ---> http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/86303/forum/9
