In case you hadn’t noticed, melody is back, and it’s back in a big way. SunDance Records from Australia leads the way with the long awaited debut album from Serbian maestro, Goran Yuric, aka TALPA.

TALPA has given ethereal melodies an eastern edge and combined them with driving, original basslines, coming up with an exciting new direction for psytrance, whilst retaining a very high respect for the dance floor. TALPA dishes up super size helpings of Melody without a slice of cheese in sight.
Heavily influenced by Simon Posford & Infected Mushroom, TALPA manages to pay homage to these masters whilst retaining a unique sound that is distinctively TALPA.

The album consists of one chill track, and 9 dance tracks, all of which have been tested on dancefloors around the globe, with outstanding results.

The Art of Being Non will easily be one of the most significant artist’s albums released this year, perhaps even the last 5 years. It will sit very comfortably next to milestone classics such as Hallucinogen – “Twisted” & Infected Mushroom – “Classical Mushroom”.

i think this is a great cd.
Fav tracks;

track 1, nice relaxing warm up with eastern guitars and flutes and some beautiful singing.

track 3, awesome blend of melodies and psychedelia

track 6, love that opening sample 'i looked over at my boyfriend johnny, he was turning into a bird too'

#8 love his mums singing!

also tracks 9 and 10 stood out to me but I need to listen to this more! I get the feeling its one of those cd's that gets better every time you hear it so I eagerly await!

i think its cute that his mum does vocals on this, she rocks!

This CD is nothing but pure gold! Statement that this CD will sit comfortably next to Hallucinogen and IM is not far from being true.

What can I say about the CD where I can't find one bad track? Music found on the CD is pure art and Talpa proves us that he is the master of great psychedelia and great melodies.

Favs:

#2 My Kingdom
With great epic melodies, Talpa introduces us to "his kingdom", and he shows us how colourful and emotional his music is. Really, this is some great stuff to hear, and some great ideas you can find here. Life after this one will not be the same as before Absolute killer!

#4 No Place To Hide
Wow wow wow! Thousands of different things going on in this track... In certain moments, it gets hard to follow what's going on in here... There are even cartoon samples hehe... Some great tricks and ideas, too. At the end we have an outstanding melody that is so fast and now we know why this track is called "No place to hide". Marvelous stuff! Really emotional.

#5 Dragon Tale
Very melodic track. Here we also have some great epic melodies present and at the end we have great culmination. Outstanding!

#7 Flybeereligion
This one starts with a really dark medieval melody. It makes a really scary atmosphere hehe. I like it. Well this tracks is a typical example of Talpa’s “telling us a story” throughout his music. It consists of 2-3 smaller parts, totally different, but somehow connected, which sounds great. At one half of the track there’s a great old school melody that leads us to a total madness…

Other tracks are beatiful, too, especially “The moon” with great female singing, and “Back To Dreaming”.

Get this CD, no matter what your music taste is, and don’t give up on a first few listenings.

Good luck Goran and Sundance with this and all future releases!

One of my favourite melodic albums for a while now this is a top effort from Talpa and the production on it is superb.
I think it is easily at the same level as misted muppet...maybe these guys should do a side project together

not to disrespect the Misted Muppet, but Talpa's album is miles and miles beyond.. I've been listening to it non-stop, and it gets better and better every time. By far my favorite album since Pentafiles.

Talpa Rocks!!!!

It's just amazing the atmosphere that Talpa makes in his tracks..... He goes beyound all limits and barriers, seting up all those tiny details that make his tracks so rich, colourful and imaginative.

That's something I really look for in music nowadays.

There is a plenty of room for production improvement, though.

to be honest i really dont think betetr production was possible on his setup.
If you people knew how low budget his studio was for this album, i think you would spin out severely.

The only way is to buy him a bigger & better studio, which i am working on for his 2nd album.

Well that exactly is the point

Would be nice to see him in a new studio... or at least just a studio.           How am I supposed to hallucinate with all these swirling colors distracting me!

Every track on this cd is remarkable.

I think it is the best psytrance release of the year so far, with the muppets coming in a close second.

PSYREVIEWS UK is not at all afiliated with Demon Tea and / or SunDance.

just for the psyreviews of it....

Talpa

The Art Of Being Non

Sundance (Australia)

And let me just start by saying that I’ve been referring to this album in colloquial circles as “The Art Of Being Blimey,” and I suggest and rather expect that you might do so too. >From start to finish this is utterly staggering – this has to be one of the most original, deepest, and completely adorable artist albums of the year. After the brokenbeat, hung-melody intro of First Ray Of Light, it takes no time to establish its groove with My Kingdom: a tune with big stabs, big chords, and big crunches. When the huge melodic flurries give way to insane drops, you are for the first time left thinking that this may be the sound Infected Mushroom could have achieved if they stayed on the same track as The Gathering and Classical Mushroom. Trust No Goblin is bonkers for breakfast, moochy breakbeat for lunchtime, and dresses up for dinner in a bangin’, pacey trancey top hat n’ tails before it chases you around the buffet table, laughing inanely. No Place To Hide has utterly staggering production, again reminiscent of Infected with melodies washing back and forth over a hard-as-nails backbone. Dragon Tale rather leaves me speechless, the melody here is (and I mean IS) genius, and I mean GENIUS. End of. The Infected Mushroomyness resurfaces loudly on Flybeereligion; you can tsaste and smell all those things that made them great, when something as inventive, deep and downright joyous as this appears on the radar. Flybeereligion’s distorted leadlines have the hairs standing up on the back of your neck every time, and the way it runs into a delectable, kaleidoscopic ending is sheer class. For me though, it all comes together with Rebirth; an amazing, fully-danceable groove that just evolves by itself, taking the entire dancefloor and a sizeable amount of reality with it as well. And did I mention the production? I’d estimate that for every noise you notice, there’s about eight others in there that you don’t. The effect of this album is simply staggering. In a climate where so many people bemoan the “lack of anything psychedelic these days”, this album deserves to sell millions. Actually, make that billions. An outstandingly good standalone artist album that will change the way you think about psychedelic trance.

I posted a completely honest indepedant review of talpa album from Damion Brown in PSYREVIEWS UK, and It was deleted from here.

I suggest the moderators read a little more carefully, as it was pretty obvious that it was a quote from PSYREVIEWS.COM
