well, u can look @ it from another angle...
u should respect the artist by trusting him and his taste... let him be creative, inspiring... let him surprise the croud and even himself, let him open ppl`s minds to new places... let him tell u a story that u wont hear on your cd copy @ home...
let him inovate
as long as its a good set, i realy dont care what the dj played...

you cannot say "like whatever the dj is playing as long as he plays it nice..."
after all... how can you have fun in a party if you don't listen the music that you like..

ofcourse its hard to enjoy what u dont like, but it just seems wrong to me that organizers "close" with the dj what his gonna play.
whats next?... the dj will get a track list?
if u book gms... for sure u`ll hear gms staff, same with infected, simon... and most of the nig names
that i can understand.
what i dont understand is that ppl get engry at the few dj`s that still wanna do something else and not just to deliver the goods.
but thats just me...

ok guys, its turned to another pathetic thread where two different kind of ppl (how its not surprize, full on lovers KNOW what they want, others give a chance to different) try and make alot of blah blah that is not help to anything.

im realy realy sorry then.
i thought what turned this thread toward this result is a personal taste of different ppl.
not only about music itself, but a way to how deep u can dig the music and how open mind can u stay.
and about a topic itself - u can look at whole thing from other view ravergirl. as u can imagine when label ask some dj to compile a cd may be exactly as detox ask artists play some specific line, so same label ask a dj compile a specific line. when dj come on a stage and its not trance alliance event, he feel more free to express himself with less borders. see my point ??

i dont think its full on vs prog (damn i hate this labelizing thing)
its more of a personal view on music and parties.
and thats why there is no wrong or right here...
for example...
one party with ticon on the 1st stage, planet ben on the 2nd and simon on the 3rd.
and one party with fatboy slim on the 1st stage, adam bayer on the 2nd and digweed on the 3rd.
well damn me if i wont go to the 2nd party
when im sure most of the members here will go to the first one.
its not a secret that this scene is stuck somewhere.
so as long as we have dj`s that wanna do other things... we need to be thankful 4 that.

Zombi i dont see at all how this thread became pathetic like you named it,instead i find it very interesting to see people arguing on a specific subject and stating in a very polite way their opinions,thats what discussion is all about after all.
Can you imagine how boring would it be if everybody in this world shared the same opinions wity you or me or yossi or ravergirl?That would be pathetic in my opinion.
Yossi i will give you a small example,forget about trance.Suppose that you book Iron Maiden for example that are a very well known heavy metal band for a big concert,everything is ready for the concert,their fans have payed a ticket and are waiting to hear their favorite tunes,then suddenly Iron Maiden appear and start playing Rock music instead of Heavy Metal because they just wanted to express their self and because they felt like they wanted to play Rock music.Do you think thats fair for the organisers and the fans that payed a ticket?
For me its not fair at all and i would be tottally dissapointed by this incident.I hope you get the idea now with trance dj and artists also.
Also Zombi its not full on lovers versus the progressive fans,like ravergirl said it you are the one that makes this distinction,i like full on as much as i like many more music styles,and i dont also really think that ravergirl and Drone are so big full on lovers either.So i guess this was a rather mistaken comment by your side
Oh and something else,you misunderstood my words with the connection of the parties and the artists that we have in trance alliance.I never ever indicated to someone what to play,i am no dj and i always respect the artists that i invite,telling someone what to play is an ultimate insult for me,i just sometimes inform them beforehand (though most of them ask me themselves) what the crowd likes to listen to.When artists like Space Cat,Mumbo Jumbo,Ticon and many more with many years in the scene ask me what the people like and what i think is more appropriate for them to play then i give these guys more credit cause they really want to make the people dance and have fun rather to express themselves with the chance of ruining the party.
Just like someone else said in this thread,an artist is expected to play the music that made his famous because this is what the people like in him

if i book iron maiden for a live show then yeah... i want them to play iron maiden staff.
but lets say i book the singer for a dj set in my new heavy metal club...
u see... its not the same.
i totaly understand the artists that ask`s u what your croud wants... and like i said b4, its more commn in the "big names" circle... where their money and food is the issue.
and it shows, all the artists u mentioned (ticon, space cat, mumbo jumbo) didnt made something groundbearking in their last releases imo like they used to do.
when they asked u "tell me please what your courd wanna hear" they lost alot of their creativity in their music and dj set.
its commersionalism baba
again... i dont think its wrong.
but when we do see dj`s and acts that try to do something less expected and still keep it on very high level... we musnt complain.

detox, i told u allready not once that i dont realy can connect music and money. dont want. if u in that position when u need care about tickets/pockets/money/fans/scene/what-so-ever, do it man. im not into those games and free to do what i love to do for my own fun.
we have realy different view on parties as it should to be and what music can be there. if u ask me worst thing for indoor party is full on or psy trance, its wrong, its wrong for anybody who expirienced freedom of open air and its energie and soul. but there is alot of ppl who come to events, yours and alike, here and there, and i have nothing against, i just skip'em all. and not that i from those "never commerzial/big event goers", i love big events, but i realy think there is so better music for this kind of gatherings.
i only dont like when those ppl (who hardly were at trance parties. mean parties where ppl in trance, not fancy meat dancefloor bulls) say me what should be.
but i dont blame anybody, i say, lets separate in peace.

Zombi i know that we dont share the same opinions on most of the subjects but i always fancy having a discussion with you cause its nice to listen to ones opposite opinion.
The conclusion is that we are having a nice chat out of which a third person can compare the different opinions stated and reach his own conclusion and decisions.
