it's even better when you quote more of the sentence:

"the hole picture inside and out you feel me."

jacob, i don't want to feel you around that hole pic

do you think in the beginning artists in the beginnign sold lots of cds? Do you think they sold lots of cds? considering the scene was undergound

its only with commercialism has this become a problem

and with psytrance turning into a business...

the only thing that has changed in the scene is poeple have seen the money

That's easy to answer. YES overall artists sold way more in the beginning of this scene than today.

There was much more money in it for more artists in the 90s. We had one 12" on Flying Rhino in 1996 that earned the three of us nearly £800 each from its first royalty cheque alone (and they paid us an advance and our recording costs too), and we were still getting cheques for it two years later.

These days you're lucky to get paid at all.

About earning money. Get a (real) job, or prove your worth through time and hard work within live performances, DJ set's and production of music that will eventually become timeless and classic.

In an ideal world there wouldnt be anyone teher telling what is good and what is bad.Or what is a "real" job or not.

Those who know what it will say to create music very well also know it's a real job and a full time job. And I am not speaking about those who have done one or two tracks over a weekend and put it on some random compilation. Try and create a whole well thought through CD and you'll know it's indeed a real job and a fulltime occupation.

And without anyone sacrifying the luxury of having a steady income so they can create the music you all like to listen to. Then you would not have any purpose coming to a forum telling artists they do not have a real job. then the music would not excist and the same goes for this forum

agreed..
i think the point of hardwork is missed by alot of people, but i think we have the "quick copycat creators" to thank for that... fast releases and hopefully a quick buck.. lots of artists dont fullfill their knowledge before they hit the road..

when you really work to make something good and spend alot of time on it, it is a fulltime job, and if you think its all just fun and pure joy.. well then you got it wrong, to make something worth while you have to put energy into it, and not all sections of a track is created in a breeze..

there is also alot of thought, soul and fiddle...

if this justify that people should pay for it or not is a question... maybe the creator decide to give his hard work away for free.
its all good. i like that. if he wants money for the hard work.. its fine, we all want money for hardwork...

the only way is that artists goes on a strike..

also...yes colin you made more cash back then cos there was less artists and it was noval to the supporters of psy...

so then is the problem that there are too many artists?

(appology for my young ignorance )

wrong title for the topic...It should say ''FULL support to the artist''.......I can hardly believe that i would steal the music that someone created in 1 year in average time.....Deedrah devoted 6 years of his life to write his ambient album under the name Federico Baltimore and now i will illegally download it in a minute?....Not a chance!!!

and that was well deserved money

those tracks were fantastics specially considering the equipment available for producing at the time

that Unconscious Collective Ep was such an instant classic

Exactly.

My Kaaya release with Paul Jackson on Dragonfly still today give me royalties. It gave us something like £2500 in royalties and that was also after advances paid to both of us.

There's no comparison with that times sales and today's lack of sales.

Today when you deliver a track you most of the time get from Euro 200-300 and that's it.

Online download sale is the way today.
