Sorry to hear that so many of you are having a hard time with parties.
I don't go clubbing very often any more precisely because I hate commercial venues.
Hikari - sorry to hear that the scene has turned so nasty in Japan, I have some friends living in Tokyo and they have been very disappointed by the parties in and around. I lived in Akita for 2 years and I met some wonderful people who put on some beautiful parties. There was a very small dance scene in Akita but there was a split between those who were in it for the beauty of the parties and those who thought they should be making some profit from all their hard work.
I have only ever organised parties for invite only and expenses have been minimal. Puttng on a party is tough work, I don't begrudge anyone trying to make a profit from it, venues, acts all cost money.
Its a shame that money has to ruin the innocence and joy of parties and excludes people. Also a shame when there are people who think by relying on a famous line up they don't have to provide a beautiful party. However indications are over in Ibiza and the UK is that the end of the superclub is nigh. More and more punters are looking for something different and better treatment. If the commercialism of these big parties annoys you so much, check out smaller parties and venues. Some of the best parties I have been at have been the smallest!
Live and learn, boycott the parties that cost the earth, people will eventually turn their backs on crappy promotors. I would love to have gone to Glastonbury but the cost was prohibitive £110 if you managed to buy one on time. However now I will be spending 3 days at a lovely party to be thrown by the Liquid Connective crew, tickets for which were only £30 altogether, which enabled me to buy a ticket for me and my other. I still hope to make it to Glastonbury sometime, but I'm happy that there are other options for me that don't cost a fortune and yet I know I will have a wicked time.

I wouldn't bother paying the money to go to Glastonbury if you want all night trance and parties. About 6 years ago they banned soundsystems from inside the site. The travellers site on top of the hill became the place the real festival went on but last year they wouldn't even let us have a site so we ended up 30 or so miles away. It was still a cool party but would have been better with more people. I've been told they had the old site back this year but I don't know 'cos I moved to America. Glastonbury really isn't the shit anymore and I wouldn't waste your money. Look to the underground.

Party orginaizerz dont just dissapeare on sunday and reapear on friday to orginaize a party for u!!!
You will be suprrised but they to need to make it thru the month and ill let in on a little secret - part of them even have a family that they need to feed!!!
So if thir job is orginaizing parties for u they probably dont have time for other jobs - couse in order to orginaize a party u dont just get up one Friday morning thinking about having a party and - WALLA its ready!!! it takes some work u know!!!
And if its too expansive for u then think about not showing up to every party u've heard of but just to the best party or to a party every two weeks - if u wont attend to a party every friday i promise u no one will think any less of u!!! |

Yep ConTact, we know that... And if u ask me I´d say I´m forever in debt to the good organizers whom delivered the best parties I was to...
But... Can u really say that are not pp taking advantage of stuff? Do u really say pp gotta charge a dollar the water bottle or they can not afford to live (this is IN BRAZIL, I dunno the price elsewhere...)?
There are deformities and atrocities, and there are also pp who´s trip is complaining about anything they can think off, we´ll never get to a generic agreable point... but this thread is a very nice one... nice done nova... we need better parties we need PLURer organizations and attendance, we need to put a little more love into our hearts and stop trying to just f#ck each other...
It´s just like with girls... if u like and want what she´s got, at least, at least, make ur best to make her hv the time of her life...
And even so if u can not deliver that... well... at least, at least, an enjoyable time... one she´s gonna be fond to remember...
and if even so if u can not deliver that... well... at least, at least, something so outrageously crazy... she... can´t quite... remember.... preciselly exactly and in what order... hmmm... what really happened... AHAHAHA...

i think that you are missing the point...
its not about "going to parties every week" or choosing how to spend our money...
we are talking about the organizers here... about ripping and making this scene look low!
why should i pay a 100 nis for a party who doesnt worth it?
why ppl are doing it from the first place?!
in order to feed your family,
you need me to give you my money...
if you want me to give you my money... and not for the other party next week... then you should make it real good...
how do you want me to pay you if you charging 100 nis for a shitty party?
how the artist will feel if the crowd will not show up at all cause they know that this organizers is making "money parties"?
its not just about his hotel you know...
(that was just an exsample my friend... its not directly to you)
and btw,
dont make yourselfs look so missrable, you chose this job...
some ppl are working harder then you think...
some of them are us...

Listen Nova, I also thought like you, untill I got involved in the trance scene and I realised a lot.
First, just for your information, there are very few party organizers that do make money out of parties. Most of them hardly manage to cover expenses, and lots of times even loose. So why they do it? Cause if not them, who will? Will you take the risk and do it? Do you want to handle cops trouble? Arsim?
Security:Do you know how much security costs at parties? A LOT! Sure organizers can drop security. But to whom people will come to complain if their cars got broke into? Who will stop bad people from getting in? And if cops come and see there's no security, the organizers will pay for it.
Location: You can do it in wild nature of course, but then most chances cops will get to the party, or even the owner of the land will call the police and report about it. So many organizers are forced to rent the land. And yo know how much this costs? A LOT!
These are the 2 major reasons why party entrance costs so much today. Sure you didn't have this problem a few years ago, but a few years ago this scene was underground.
The djs fee and even a dj from abroad doesn't cost as much as the 2 factors I gave.
Just think about it Nova before you start attacking organizers. Most of them are here to make you happy, not the other way around.

i have alote of respact for what you are doing...
but as you deed i just exspress my opinion...
to RaverGirl...
im aware to those problems... i will never be an organinazer (well... nothing is sure in life) cause i know that i dont have this kind of responsability...
there are 2 cases right now...
the one case is a 100 nis for party that you know how much hard work the organizers did for it! full respact to them and i will be more then glad to know if they got something for themselfs cause they should for their hard work...
but second case is a party wich you come and see how much shit they feed you for a f*cking 100 nis... dont tell me that this is not happaning cause almost every one of us have been in a situation like this..
maybe you know exsactly who do it cause you are invovld alote in this bussines but im not... and i cant tell the difference till i've been there...
and after that the feeling is realy bad.
THIS IS NOT ATTACING ORGANIZERS!
im bringign here a problem that exsist nowadays...
this thread ment to make things better...
i have alote of respact to the organizers beleive me...
but as you said:

well RaverGirl... this is not a perfect world.
some of them are here to make only money...

almost 100% agree with nova.
and all those beginner djs around make it even worst!
beginner djs should spin in free parties till they will became pro!
It really sucks to pay 100 nis and see djs that don't have some good stuff to present...

those are facts that no one can argue about them
but maybe they should charge less...
i am not into the Djs thing so i dont know how much they charge but mybe organizers should charge less on begginer Djs parties... |

i think and know it's very possible to make a free party
sipmle: make a big money party with all the faces in the world and a huge production and a week after make a small one for free for good ppl only with the profits, this summer we have seen it happen a few times.
to contact: i dont belive making UNDERGROUND parties is a living .
if an orgenaizer make a living out of parties of course they will be money parties like shafell kind of parties etc...
i belive orgenaizing parties is not for the profit and even with all the expences good party can be coverd with 10,000 nis more or less.
i think the profit of a lot of investment is the party itself and cover expences , cause when u cover it, most of the time u made some money profit out of it.
