I remember this tune. Although I like the main riff/bassline, the nitzo-kinda-melody completely ruined it for me. It still does.

Peace out.

matter of taste i personally despise nitzhonot, but in this case, while having a melody which reminds nitzhonot (this track came out about 3-4 years before that god awful style popped up), i think its a good melody that tells a story also due to the fact that its combined with the riff you mentioned - try listening to this track in an outdoor party and see the response home listening makes you perceive the track differently (or maybe its just nostalgia/memories i have from good parties this track was played in)

I first listened to this track in outdoor parties in Athens...I think it was 1996. Never bought the record or bothered to copy it on DAT tape.
Matter of taste indeed.

Peace out.

I have seen this debate countless times yet I have not seen any real progression for a long time. If progression is to go back to what once was it's not really progression.           www.beatagency.dk

I love that track. To me that melody is a shameless evocation of the desire to become something greater than we already are.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

"going to that level of trance that is right for your today"

for me the way the intro of the track is just ethereal, thinking of opening/closing a set with it

kristian - this topic is pretty much about the next thing, next doesnt necessarily mean progression (take fashion for example).

i personally dont like how most of trance music "progressed" from 2005/6-2010, so for me the next move was to go back to what i loved and grew up on, as it happened to several producers over the past few years - by that i dont mean only recycling music/styles of the past, but taking elements that the producer liked from the past times and integrate them into his own/new sound - pretty much in the vein of what dh said.

Going "back to what once was" works fine in chord progressions, doesn't it?

Also let's not forget that "progressive" trance is just a pretentious version of 1980s' Eurodisco. You know, "You're my heart, you're my soul" and "I will make you feel alright, be my lady of the night" type of deal.

So, see - progress can happen in a loop (or a spiral, more like it).

Anyway, who was talking about progress here?

bizarre talk from a daydream:

Future music is not dependent on the industry anymore. It will now start structuring itself around performances. The era of genres are over!

The vibe of performances comes from the source of the inspiration and the attitude of the artist. Of course structure will still exist from the side of those who produce, trying to group similar acts together to create an event.

The grouping though will now have to be done by sound rather than genre.

The future of music is sound.

What is next is sound.

The producers of tomorrow are those who create their own sound.

In a way it is also how it's always been. We never remembered musicians, we only remembered those who produced their own unique sound.
