personally, i really really dislike dubstep. i can't understand this music. maybe i am too old. to me it simply sucks, no nice way to say it.

Nah you're not to old. I don't mind some stuff like Scuba, Applebim and the kinda dubstep those blokes mix up but the brostep shit that Skrillex, Nero & Hatchet make is so fucking shit.

I saw Skrillex "live" last year at an EDM festival I got fee tickets to, and I left because of him. He's the Deadmouse of dubstep, simple cheesey rubbish that sells to 12 year old kids who think he's hardcore.

Best dubstep I've heard are the few experiments some of my fav drum n bass artist's have done as they manage to keep the techstep and neurofunk vib in it without the frigging cheese that has killed the style.

Some clips of Psykovsky live show him dropping some dubstep he's produced. Sadly the clip is either really poor quality, or else he should leave it alone as it sounds as bad as Skrillex.           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

So would you listen to Lady Gaga over it?

BTW you seemed quite supportive of it 9 years ago?

Could it be that darkpsy of 2011 is not the same as darkpsy of 2002?
Is it possible that Pavel in 2011 is not the same as Pavel in 2002?

Besides, there is darkpsy and there is darkpsy, as has been discussed here ad nauseum.

To the main topic:
Who cares?
Produce what you like.
Listen to what you like.
Leave the rest alone.

by the time 'next' is 'now' it's already deep fried. it's rare that what's next gets put out by many labels either, unless it's a really famous experimental label like warp that defines what's 'next' by releasing it.

Two new developments that are happening in psytrance are the hi-tech very fast indistinct sounds that came out of Russia and the low BPM swamp trance that's coming out of the Midwest.

Please let's be good and diferentiate between dubstep that old grindy, subtle genre of bass and percussions, that was actually good and the new aberration which must called BROSTEP full of wobles that make american teens feel the second coming of christ.           "The dedication to repetition — the search for nirvana in a single held tone or an endlessly cycling rhythm — is one of electronic music's noblest gestures."

I prefer dark psy over lady gaga but it's more like I prefer testicular cancer over pancreas cancer.
And yea in 2002 there was good dark psy. Psykovsky, Parasense, some Swedish producers.. But it went to shit very fast           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

great post. I think the "beyond atom comp" is an exception though. Can you elaborate on the Russian sound you speak of?

thanks pete

was referring to releases like this:

Beyond Atom is definitely the evolution of the same. It's not really that geographically limited anymore, just assuming it came from the Russian sound like a lot of heavy psychedelic trance.
