..so few women in the L.A trance scene..

In my travels to places like Australia,Europe, Israel,Thailand,I see the Psytrance scene enjoy a 1 to 1 ratio men to women at worst 3 to 2 men to women. Even SF has a more fem presence.Also in commercial raves and house events,much higher ratio. Can somone please shed some light on why our ratio,no matter who the promoters are,usually offers a 1 to 5 at best 2 to 5 women to men ratio? Not that we didnt have some beautiful starletts in Daydreamers,but we need a more on fire,girl energy i.e Keren ish,to bring our events to another level. So please homies,yes I know we all like to hide sometimes in the forest and do "our thing",but we need your wives,girlfriends,friends who are girls,sisters,your sisters friends,and any female you can bring with you to our events.Nothing beats a healthy, even ,sexual tention to add to the mix of everything else thats amazing. Women add a sophistication and grace which we need,they add balance and harmoney to something that is already blissful.Then when the occational homey, stumbles on to our events,and his entire goal and being is about getting laid,like he came from some sleazy disco downtown and tries to hook up with everything that moves,its not so bad. Yes we all know Psytrance is mostly about the music and vibe...but ladies ..hello..we need you! |

from my experiances, in the US it seems most places like its a 3-1 ratio.
Guys outnumber girls in SF quite a bit, (ours just seem to be more active in the behind the scenes stuff) and in LA it seems to be just about the same ratio, though this past weekend, it did seem a bit one sided.
I dont know the exact reasons behind this, but i know more girls go to breaks and house parties, cause the "music lets em bump n grind"

here in NYC, you tend to get lop- sided gender ratios at some psytrance parties, espicially if it is at a large club in manhattan. I believe Single Guys tend to come to parties expecting to meet women. Expecially in a City like New York City, where you can go all day surrounded by beautiful women, but never have the chance to talk to them. Psytrance parties offer one of the few oppurtunities to meet women.
... I think you need to stop having 21+ psytrance events, because it is very unfair for a guy in his twenties to not be able to bring his 19 year girlfriend to a party. |

we have a pretty good balance of m/f at our events... the women have thier role, the boys have thier toys, and we all get along on the dancefloor... and if its not balanced we find the middle ground somehow and remember why we are there in the first place , to hear and dance to tunes.
it does make it much more enjoyable to have some pheromones floating about...
girl djs tend to attract more women to the scene, and yesk, having attractive men at the decks seems to be something i hear often...eh...

oh yeah, i just love music that makes me bump and grind
maybe the whole male ego thing that is pretty prevalent in most parties i've attended has something to do with the smaller appeal for women in general to psytrance... it's a definite turn off for me!
although there are times in SF when i look around and its nothing but girls on the dancefloor

I have to agree with MOE...sure, that what's we psy women like bumping and grinding not to mention being pawed by the young israeli lads at the L.A. parties and even at the Zigs... It's awful !!! It has happened more than a couple of times to me personally and I really do not care to go to these events anymore. On the other hand MOE, you guys throw excellent parties up north, very psychedelic and very loving and giving.

I have never seen anything like you descibed in L.A.i also think you are wrong for pointing out only one race of people!
Even better,maybe you should throw a party that is only for woman!
then you can avoid all the pawning you described.
