...I agree, selection is key. It doesn`t matter if you don`t possess mad mixing skills. And IMO in atleast melodic psy it`s better to let them tracks play for at least 5-7 mins before attempting anykind of transition. Don`t know about minimal stuff, i guess you can play that like techno...

you're marking out of five wako...

actually i wasn't expecting people to alot their own scores, i'm just interested in what people think makes a good dj and why. my five points example was just to get things started (glad people appear to agree with me though )           >>love will tear us apart...<<

style, attitude, knowing how to mix, but i think the most paramount object of a DJ is to see the crowd and know exactly what to put next, in other words, feel the vibe. may the vibe be with you, be one with the vibe, etc.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. For me I'd say it's 3.5 for the mixing 1 for the order and 0.5 for the trax, since I don't consider trax as complete units but only as small pieces to be connected by the DJ in a creative mix. if you would have heard synchro's set without mixes you all would have hated the music, but with his mixing style it was a killer. with the proper technique you can build up's (Aliot) of your own, make your own breaks, it's almost like a live set...           Kinetic Honda GmbH, Worldwide Supliers of Quality noise.

i have to say, i almost agree with borris:
3 for mixing
1 for trak order
1 for selection

the selction makes the bits of the puzzle, which is put togethr in the right order, under the skillful hands of the mixing dj.
unless its like that, then the dj would be a person that knows what people like (VERY IMPORTANT), and not an artist himself.

i think the order is as much important as mixinging , u need to sence the dancefloor & hitting the right track at the right time can explode the dancefloor.

about the importance of mixing, well i think everthying had been said before... , it's whats makes a dj - dj !

mixing aint worth 3 points!!! i mean, the mixing lasts for about 5 seconds (could be more ofcourse), and the track lasts for a few minutes... you dance to the track, not to the mixing! i prefer good music with bad mixing, over bad music with good mixing!

if mixing was more important, then we would all be listening to Paul Oakenfold... crappy music, great mixing. Is that what you want?           MiniMAL cabron...

2.0 for mixing
1.5 for order
1.5 for selection

I really apreciate the mixing style of dj´s. IMO a good order make the mixing easier. All is important for me, but a nice mixing makes the set much better.           LOADING...
