A beautiful tale about a kid that grew in Mumbai's slums who unfolds his life story through answers that he gives in a famous TV show. The movie is, although in a shell a typical love story, told in a non - linear fashion and the sheer strength of the script and the acting will surely crack the heart of the most cynical watchers. The sights of Mumbai that rapidly shift from ugly and miserable to beautiful and full of life contribute greatly to the message of the film which is basically faith and destiny and how everything in life is fragile and temporary.
I think the script here is a sure Academy Award material and perhaps directing as well.
It is a pure emotional ride without a hint of kitsch.
Obviously recommended to people that love India which I guess are quite a presence here and definitely for people that enjoy a good and heart warming drama.
9.5/10

I loved the music within the film. There was even one a bit Shpongly tune there.
And there's M.I.A's tune there which I already like

I was going to post about this when I posted the Wrestler. My wife and I went to a double feature that day
Another great movie.
My only complaint was what happens to Salim. Didn't think they had to have it like that. Seemed kind of a sellout Tarantino/trendy ending.
Otherwise, extremely captivating film and a real cultural eye opener.

well i was jus thinking bout this movie (coz it failed to impact me as much as 'Salaam Bombay' or 'City of God') & maybe it's the end of the movie which is kinda happy & the other two movies are not so & maybe so the after taste of those 2 movies stays with u longer?
am i the only 1 who felt so??

Thought it was ok. nothing groundbreaking . the first half of the movie was gripping , the danny boyle style of direction and editing was palpable. the second half drags and towards the end felt like a standard bollywood production. Much better than than any movie in the last month or so thou. it would be lucky if it won an oscar not that ive seen the other nominees, it still seems far from oscar worthy.

@exotic
exactly bro after the interval it seemed more of an Shahrukh khan movie then nething else.
but the first half is terrific!
& Rehman jus keeps u glued with his magic
like 'Ringa Ringa' is like ne sleezy bollywood no. but after watching the movie it seems so apt & u start enjoying it
