Oh come on. Do you not think the whole dark psy thing is a bit old? I mean who cant take a bass line and throw loads of uncomfortable sounds over it until you make a tune that will scare everyone off the dancefloor. If thats what you like, go listen to some dark nebula or something more hardcore. I would say most people will listen to it and think it sounds like noise (but if it makes you feel cool to like it, then go ahead)

I think challange is to keep people on the dancefloor. keep them addicted to the beats and keep them interested. This album manages to get that balance of dark but cooooool...

If that makes me an "Opium" person, then so be it... life goes on

well, enough said..

Shift, yes you CAN make every track a "living nightmare".. what is those living nightmares ?!

toxic shake ? plunge ? cipher ?

all those 3 tracks [and there are 20+ more] from my prespective - are musical masterpieces FOR SURE, and if u ask me you could have continue the maddness youve created with "Excession"...           Music Is The Soundtrack of Your Mind....

opimum is the very commercial monster that plagues this scene.....like wtf....opium is for coke heads and slags, and jocks and wannebes.,.....oh wait....that fits just fine with the current SA scene

Personally this album is more suited to my current tastes than any of the previous Shift ones, but thats just me. Its still got loads of power, just in a different format.

I can see how a lover of the older more crazy Shift might feel a little disaapointed at the change - but I think there is some more of that heavier stuff on the way, so fear not

I also agree that 3/10 tracks being downtempo is maybe too much. The Rift is a killer - my favourite on here.

I think the more sucessfull an artist is, they generally gonna get blasted more esp on forums - either for making more of the same boring crap, or on the other hand for taking a different direction which some older fans dont like. Not much you can do about that...

Personally i think shift is one of the finest artists in psychadelic trance....

and u all shuld stop giving him "tips"
becuse he knows what to do and how...

the last album was not my cup of tea
but i think artist shuld make the music they love.... not what u love....
becuse thats what real artists do..

and aS katam said if u dont like it dont listen to it....

i do like the old and hardcore style...and i hope that u continue doing youre thing...

best of luck

I dont know what chris thinks about this, but i can tell you remixing a remix is rediculous....and there is nothing to improve in that track anyway....

shift, i think it's quite clear who's the one labelling themselves as hardcore...

that "genre doesn't matter" crap is just another excuse for trying to merge psy with other stuff in order to widen your 'fanbase'.
firstly, you try make people think they're as hardcore as you think you are with your bumbum when they simply don't know any better. many a pillkopp i've met labels timecode as the ultimate in darkpsy..

secondly, it's not even dark/psy.. it's those dj gyver types that think your the darkest shit that ever came crawling from the abyss..

your old tracks weren't even that dark. they were just psychedelic in a way that set them apart from the usual, but that was the case with all the timecodes (except tickets, i don't even wanna go there.. or what do you call that phantom of the opera rmx, honestly??).

code a - I'm all for free speech so i couldnt care what you say about anyone, but well done in killing the South African side of this forum. Your obstinate negativity and personal opinion snobbishness are ridiculously puerile. It isn't the fact that you disagree with timecode's style and image, its your manner of argument. You constantly attempt to express yourself as an authority, which unless you are a producer of some minute reputation/talent/ability I feel you should hold back on the 'Absoluteness' of your statements. Its the transparent false arrogance thats tiring everyone, not your attention-seeking comments.

Please do continue to debate the issue, but do it with respect. If you don't like something, for example tickets' phantom rmx, then say it, and invite other opinion, but to say "I won't even go there" is worthy only of a primary school playground.           difficile est non saturam scribere
