Actually this reminds me of a recent interview by the eccentric Boy George:

When told he was the most unspiritual person on the planet, he replied unpretentiously: "Great, and anyway - the truly spiritual don't need to shout about it!"

See the correlation Wezzy? Sometimes the quitest make the loudest noise, or... if your project is truly groundbreaking, people will flock to you without having to shout from the rooftops.

Wishing your dreams become reality still: bliss, unity and happiness!
          Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!

I have lived thru 6 (yes 6!) 'revolutionary hippy fairy harmonious communal togetherness' projects in my life, and each one eventually failed, but still disbanding with a lot of important lessons learnt for all involved.

So while Wezzy's post comes across as extremely jaded/naive/ optimistic/world-saving mother-teresa-like arrogant, I do think projects like this play an important role in one's journey of self-discovery and co-existentiality.

So without sounding patronising Wezzy, I'd say go for it!!! But leave out the saviour talk of saving the world...

Peace!

Yes, that's also my experience. I worked on a similar project gave it 1 year and all my energy ( and most money)
Well the project failed, but it sure was one of the best/interesting years of my life.

Hehe - morning Shahar - hope the weather is as lovely where you are as it is here.

Morning. Today is kinda gray, actually, but yesterday was nice, sunny and warm, and the weekend was just perfect (http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/58710/forum/50 , http://www.pbase.com/trance_mama/bobs_bday_)

Best way to shut people like me up is to actually get on with it and do it - rather than sit on a web forum typing about what you intend to do. Thats easy.

You should added this to your original post, and you would only get a smile from me in response.

Quote:

No, but does that imply that us grumpy old bastards are required to keep their observations to themselves?

No, I just believe that it is better and more constructive if they are constructive and helpful with their observations.

It does require more effort, and ppl might feel it's less fun, but I found out that it is kind of a much better long-term-fun, you know. You don't get the joy of sarcasm/irony, but that's OK, cause it's not really a joy that lasts. Sarcasm is negativity, and as such it generates more negativity (it's always like that, check this thread, if Wezzy would not start with a negative post it would go another way), which is not fun, really. When I don't go with the urge of laughing at someones' expanse, but try to make a constructive observation, one that is not threathening, they actually listen (usually, not always).

It's kinda like actually doing something and not just talking about it, like you said. 'Cause words can actually do things, thoughts and words can be a first step to deeds. That's why this forum exists (not that it always works, but we try...).

Quote:

You want people to take your plans for world salvation seriously? Go away and actually do it...

That was a good advice. You see, you can be less grumpy and constructive. hehe... ;-)

(btw, Pavel, I could have been a lawyer as well, hell, I even have a law degree, with honors!)

This fantasy that in order to survive we have to revert to living as 15th century agrarian peasants just annoys me intensely.

Wezzy has found herself at a point where she is dissatisfied with her life, and rather than take responsibility for it, she is trying to externalise her discomfort and blame it on "the world" - and then she attempts to cure her discomfort by telling herself [and us] that she's on a mission to save us all. Obviously, if we don't get it we are somehow immoral. If we somehow disagree with *her* vision of the future, she "feels sorry" for us..!

I agree with you. I feel Wezzy didn't really think it through probably. I can indentify with her feelings of distress. But my beliefs about how to change things are said best in my signature.

But again, don't you agree that these observations of yours could have done much better, written in a different tone?

All of this adds up to just another arrogant, egocentric rant on the internet, where the author hasn't developed the ability to take on others' viewpoints.

I always try to ask myself, why a person couldn't take my viewpoint. I found that it is usually because I was aggressive in some way (sarcastic, patronizing, arrogant, etc...). This always attracts a reaction before thought. People close up, defend, they don't listen. I talked for nothing, just vented, no fusion of minds, no change, no creation.

In my years in online communities I found out that I'm really happy with my post when no one really answers it- it means it sunk in (there's the possibility of course that no one read it, because it was long and boring...)

Quote:

If you think it is patronising of me to question what I am being told [albeit in a way that is cloaked in sarcasm] and make known my own opinions on the subject, then I think you have missed the point.

I don't, man, and even from reading a few of my posts, you know I don't.
It's the sarcastic patronizing bit, as I explained, that I didn't connect to.

Quote:

Far more patronising, in my opinion, are responses like;

Quote:
Hope you have a nice party, and your village happens and turns nice.

which to me sounds like you're patting her on the head and saying "There there little one - run along and play your game nicely and I hope it is fun for you."

Now you're assuming things about me that you don't know. I really do hope they have a great party (good chance) and that the village thing happens and works good for them. And works good means to me that they learn something constructive from it, which I believe there's a good chance they will if they actually try and do it.

Quote:

Are you of the opinion that we should take seriously any load of nonsense we read, as long as it contains words like "spirit" and "dimension" and "harmonic balance"?

Yes and know. I take everything seriously, in a way, I also can make fun of everything. But I always try to be positive about it, kinda "laugh with someone" and not "laugh at someone". It's more fun for all I believe in the end, though I know sometimes people see me as a righteous old bastard. But that's only till they get to know me a bit better (or so I hope). And anyway, we are old bastards, you know, can't escape time

Quote:

My way is to always call "bullshit" when I see it.

Had no doubts about it since I read that interview with you somewhere that had me rolling on the floor.

OK, enough, I'm gonna actually go and do some things. And let the kids go on with their forum blabla....

I'm kidding, I'm kidding...

Sharar nice post, made me feel better today!!!
Thanks.

There is enough negativity already in this world, we don't need to add to this.

It's quite negative in my opinion when you start a post by telling all us "non belivers" that you have seen "the light" and that your way is the right way and those who dont follow your way of thinking are sad creatures. As you put it: "i feel sorry for people like you"
Now I personally dont care what you do but one thing i just cant stand are people who think everybody else are idiots or less "enlightened" because they dont follow the same way of thinking. Look at your different, not deleted, post and se what you wrote. Or maybe your so blinded by your own believes that you cant see that your maybe a little too fanatic about your crusade to save all of us?

Am I missing something apart from some heretic preaching? Hasn't this already been done in Nimbin?
The place is not strictly my cup of tea, but nice scenery nearby.
After being stoned for a few days, I headed back to Byron to surf. Guess I didn't get it, being so out of touch with nature and stuff.

Could you fill in the rest of us. I don't know what or where Nimbin is. Or what is going on there?

It's a town in New South Wales in Australia near Byron Bay, and has been around for a couple of decades as a centre of alternative culture. It was set around similar ideals to Wezzy after some hippies stayed behind after a festival in the early 70s, but has become more of tourist trap, and centre for drug use over the years (imho).
They have their own currency, alternative museums and several communes. Its also quite an idyllic location. Thats pretty much all I can remember (ahem!), I'm sure a look on the web, or some Oz isratrancers could volunteer more info.

That's a very good point to think about.
Do you have to 'fight back' with negativity, though?
What happens when someone is negative to you and you do not return the negativity?           ---------------------------------------------

Its like the waves a stone creates when you throw it in the water. They get smaller and smaller and finally disappear.
