Good on you wezzy for trying i think most of these people dont realize how serious our planets situation has gotten. If we do not find a balance realy quick i think all of you can kiss you futer generations goodbye. Its a proven fact that if we all dont change the way we run things within 50 years the ice caps WILL MELT and once that starts it is IRREVERSABLE.maybe we can all live under the sea then?? pretty funny huh? crack all the jokes you want youll wont be laughing in a few decades

What a grumpy old patronizing post, ott. "I thought the same when I was your age, when you'll be my age you'll understand..." hell, man, what did you feel when older people said that to you? Are you enjoying passing it down to younger ppl?

And anyway, what does age got to do with it? Do you think many changes and developments would have happened, let's say for example in music, if younger ppl would have listened to older ones telling them this is not the way to do things?

True, the saying "the bums always lose" does have something in it. A lot of hippie revolutional ideas end up in the rolling another spliff, but here are people actually planning to do things, something uncommon to those smoking their first spliff, and the next 2000.

And Wezzy, my advice, when you tell people what you feel, say it's what you feel, and not that it is facts. There are many ways to interpert reality, as you can see from the posts in this thread.

Hope you have a nice party, and your village happens and turns nice.

And Wezzy, I also advise against the corporate accounting thing, I have a friend doing it and he spends 10 hours a day bored and miserable.           ---------------------------------------------

Yes, I felt the same, what a patronizing thing to say.
I could say the same thing to Ott, a couple of years from now and he will be back, begging for his old job, ...

I hope he will not, but

I think Ott's point is that this might sound good in theory but is very hard to achieve in reality. And money is not the root of any evil. Human greed might be but it isn't the only source. Money is just a symbol for other things. It just makes life easier. It isn't intrinsicaly good or evil.

Also Ott never said anything about stealing. His point is valid though. Even in a society without money, someone can still grab the last sausage every day and make people annoyed because of that.

Thinking that money in itself is the problem is completely missing the point IMO.

Having several houses? Choosing where to live, traveling by very very poluting planes by any chance? Sounds like luxary to me rather than any attempt at saving the world.

And you stated in another post that you are way ahead of everyone and are different etc etc ... That isn't enlightenment. That is delusional arrogance. It could be that you are wrong but are not listening to people's input well enough to consider what they have to say ...

This whole thing sounds like a not so well thought out fantasy. Power to you if you manage to pull it off though!

Hehe - morning Shahar - hope the weather is as lovely where you are as it is here.

I don't know about grumpy - I was smiling as I typed it - but I suppose patronising is a fair comment. You know what I find patronising though? The idea that we're all blind and stupid and that Wezzy and her friends have the key. If you're going to get up in arms about people being patronising - start with the original post in this thread.

Quote:
"I thought the same when I was your age, when you'll be my age you'll understand..." hell, man, what did you feel when older people said that to you? Are you enjoying passing it down to younger ppl?

I thought "Fuck you Grandpa - I'll show you...". And then I just got on with it.

So - let her get on with "saving this world" that'll show me won't it..?

I'll look pretty stupid when the planet is cured of it's diseases and Wezzy is standing proud as it's saviour.

Best way to shut people like me up is to actually get on with it and do it - rather than sit on a web forum typing about what you intend to do. Thats easy.

Quote:
And anyway, what does age got to do with it?

Nothing, as it turns out. She's only a couple of years younger than me.

Quote:

No, but does that imply that us grumpy old bastards are required to keep their observations to themselves?

When people told me I couldn't make my living from music because I hadn't been to music college it just made me more determined.

If Wezzy's plan to rescue the planet is in jeapoardy just because some guy on a web forum pokes a bit of gentle at it, then I'd say it is in deep trouble before it starts.

Quote:

I disagree. Here are people - well one person - typing 30 words on a web forum about what they intend to do to save the Earth. That isn't planning - that is just typing "blah blah" on a forum, and there are millions and millions of words typed like it every day. Forgive me if I remain a bit sceptical.

You want people to take your plans for world salvation seriously? Go away and actually do it...

Very well put.

To base your [and my] future on statements like;

Quote:
Wezzy wrote;

"...who realize the world is fake and plastic, and we have devoted our lives to fixing things up and reshaping the world,taking it back to nature and organic!"

is both misguided and utterly arrogant in my view. The world is as it is. If you think the world has become "fake and plastic" then you have probably never been to Dartmoor National Park or the Highlands of Scotland.

Quote:
Wezzy wrote:
yes fake and plastic, the real world is not nature or organic, people trap in there world with insurance, morgage oh i need that new dress oh i need to spend $200 on my hair and i need a conditioner to help it stay in my hair, is this real and nature? we should be living with the land , not mining it for gas , oil ect.. for our cars that are destroying the air we breath, perfect the way it is hey? are you blind? i feel sorry for people like you. and with attitudes like yours what chance do we have, and we are building many villages not just one small one.

I'm sorry - this is just utter, utter drivel.

What have "mortgages and insurance" to do with "saving the world"?

This fantasy that in order to survive we have to revert to living as 15th century agrarian peasants just annoys me intensely.

Wezzy has found herself at a point where she is dissatisfied with her life, and rather than take responsibility for it, she is trying to externalise her discomfort and blame it on "the world" - and then she attempts to cure her discomfort by telling herself [and us] that she's on a mission to save us all. Obviously, if we don't get it we are somehow immoral. If we somehow disagree with *her* vision of the future, she "feels sorry" for us..!

Then it continues. Somebody else expresses their opinion and the response is;

Quote:
and what is psy to you anyway, did you lose the point of it all? or are you lost inside yourself? you have no idea. you have no hope of faith, you must feel like there is something missing a major part of you, lost and lonely sole i feel for you! you should fill your emptyness! tell me why you are living , what is your destiny? how will you better things and yourself?

The arrogance just keeps on coming, but its ok - you can be as arrogant and insulting and unhinged as you like, as long as you tell people that your motives are clean and holy.

A few contrary opinions later and we're still going...

Quote:
and what are you doing to make life easy on people and the world, do you have a world vision or do you only look after your self? i am selfless, do you know what this means?

To be honest, if this is the person who is here to save the world, I'm going to find me another planet to live on.

Religious fundamentalists use the same line to try to force us onto their path by telling us they are acting for the greater good. I don't like them much either.

Quote:
Wezzy wrote;

yes we all are connected to the cosmic spirit, we all are of the same matter, in different forms! i am you , you are me!
we all have a destiny, to better ourselfs and the world, just like jesus!

Sorry - when did Jesus turn up? I think I'm starting to get it now. When people start invoking the spirit of a long-dead philosopher as a way of justifying their arrogance and egocentrism - I'm outta here. No good ever comes of it.

Quote:

We will also be working with the outside world educating, working and playing!

And you tell me I'm being patronising? You think it is patronising to take stuff like this with a bit of gentle humour and a giant pinch of salt?

Quote:
Wezzy wrote;

im light years ahead of you!

Hmmm... I'm sure you are.

Quote:
Wezzy wrote;

Repent of your sins heathens - mine is the one true way!!

Quote:
Wezzy wrote;

i know im ahead in my spirit belief, [...] i come from the 4th dimension im Fairy, and i hope ive planted seeds of hope in all of you!

All of this adds up to just another arrogant, egocentric rant on the internet, where the author hasn't developed the ability to take on others' viewpoints.

If you think it is patronising of me to question what I am being told [albeit in a way that is cloaked in sarcasm] and make known my own opinions on the subject, then I think you have missed the point.

Far more patronising, in my opinion, are responses like;

Quote:
Hope you have a nice party, and your village happens and turns nice.

which to me sounds like you're patting her on the head and saying "There there little one - run along and play your game nicely and I hope it is fun for you."

Are you of the opinion that we should take seriously any load of nonsense we read, as long as it contains words like "spirit" and "dimension" and "harmonic balance"?

My way is to always call "bullshit" when I see it. If I'm proved wrong later then I'm always ready to put my hand up and admit it.

WORD!

Ott, you should join Cartman on his eternal quest to get rid of THOSE GODDAMN HIPPIES!!!

I recommend a really good book about this subject, "Drop city" by T.C. Boyle, its all about a hippie community that moves to Alska after they are forced out of California. After a few months all their "values" and "morals" go down the dumpster, really funny, Wezzy you should maybe read it!

Ott, luckily you chose the wrong career and become musician. You could be good lawyer.
As for south park episode, I fell asleep, the previous one was much better.           Everyone in the world is doing something without me

I did a couple of projects myself some worked some didn't. Generally people don't stay together very long, only religion or economic advantages work, otherwise people are quickly off doing something else.

Spot on Ott, you took the words right outta my mouth, just articulating them slightly better...

I have lived thru 6 (yes 6!) 'revolutionary hippy fairy harmonious communal togetherness' projects in my life, and each one eventually failed, but still disbanding with a lot of important lessons learnt for all involved.

So while Wezzy's post comes across as extremely jaded/naive/ optimistic/world-saving mother-teresa-like arrogant, I do think projects like this play an important role in one's journey of self-discovery and co-existentiality.

So without sounding patronising Wezzy, I'd say go for it!!! But leave out the saviour talk of saving the world...

Peace!           Within this timeless gathering,
a shining light does dance,
lost from conscious memory,
but visible in trance!
