Reason for low sales?

As you all know, trance music sells low. Very low.
Reasons:

1. Low crowd/releases ratio. Lots of releases and a relatively small crown of listeners.
2. Crowd age. A big part of the listeners are teenages without a job and no ability to pay for releases.
3. Technological crowd. Trance being a computer music attracts techies who have knowledge in downloading pirated music from the net.
4. Lack of publicity. No one knows about new releases.. And when there is publicity the release is tagged as "commercial" and people will not buy it because it is so.

Anyone care to add his own or correct mine?

Lack of PR from the lable's side, or if it's an independant release, they can't afford the PR levels of a lable.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

PR u mean public relations?

if that's correct then i completly agree
i dislike lately the way some labels behave and promote and deserve and supply and manage and sale
and won't buy their discs just because
though it doesnt mean i will download mp3...

5. Not sold in local record stores in some areas.

(don't give me a link to psyshop.com. I know about it. Going across the street and buying a cd is much easier. And instant.)

- and its easier for non-internet users to find music and new music this way.

Yes, i Meant Public relations. a good example for a PRed aware lable is BNE. Phonokol, on the other hand, if it's not Astral, don't much care, and they hardly promote anything else in relevance.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

yes, yes
but the list is longer...
i don't think we should discuss this because everything is simple and clear
it depends on labels and very little on our money
they will simply close soon or later...

and I am sure, Sputer, if labels were doing it the best way, releasing only best music, making lower prices and better promotion then u will be glad to buy music instead of icecream;)

there is only 1 big psy-magazine around:
the mushroom magazine
problem for u: its 10 times a year in german and 2 times in english. in 2003 they will have 4 english editions.
in this magazine u can find PR for all releases with advertisements, interviews and reviews. and there is much more interesting stuff in it.
