I cant believe that they sold all these copies.

Its imposibble to sell 20.000 copies in a week in ourdays.

Its almost imposible to sell them in 6 months.

In presale, you usuelly get orders ranging from 5,000 copies to 10,000 copies alone, aparts from shops. so this number is viable, i think.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

If i remember right Hallucinogen was with Sony for one of his first albums ( or the first) that must have sold the most.

BTW, I just noticed that trace-shop.com sells cd's at very low prices.
I'll buy some stuff from there soon.

If u talkin about trades and stuff i found out about websites of members that show thier "wanted list" and what they got etc..

I mean, if u trader so do it at least privatly, dont build websites for that !           ..."Be yourself, let your conscience guide you...

1. Low crowd/releases ratio. Lots of releases and a relatively small crown of listeners.

relatively true, but yet i think people like different styles and looking for specific music so like.. lots of releases being divided by the crowd of listeners

2. Crowd age. A big part of the listeners are teenages without a job and no ability to pay for releases.

truth

3. Technological crowd. Trance being a computer music attracts techies who have knowledge in downloading pirated music from the net.

VERY true

4. Lack of publicity. No one knows about new releases.. And when there is publicity the release is tagged as "commercial" and people will not buy it because it is so.

hm.. hard to accept, i think ppl do know about the new releases (at least those who are interested in the scene)
and many of us recently like underground music more then "commercial".

one more thing to add:
i dont really think that cd price got very strong influence at all the deal.. coz like lets say the band will sell their cds for like 50% of the usual price - do you think much more ppl will run and buy it>?
i think those who are buying and not stealing - will still buy it if they like the music and those who copying under the law, will keep copying

I don't think CD prices have much to do with it, also not age. If not why do this girls and boys bands sell millions, they target a very young crowd and the CD price is about the same.

But the big difference is in the publicity budget.

one more thing here, people. selling a CD in a record shop, any CD, is an act of commercialism.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

im not reffering to that zombi. what i meant was that people here are thwarted by promotions and PRs and promo-parties because they are afraid it will be too "commercial".           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

That's what I'm saying. People want to stay underground. So they have to face the consequences.

Consequences be ?
Stay underground and go under, or become commercial ?
Well I think only very few will have it all, only the best of course. Time will show.

Something that came into my mind while reading (and posting) in Ambrosia's forum.
It's connected to the huge amount of releases today. Trance people have the need to listen to everything that gets released. So they listen to 2-3 new albums per day. With that short time for listening you just can't dig into the album, connect to it and understand it. People listen to it, say "oh it's nice" and move to the other album. They won't listen to it again to say "wow it's amazing".
In the past the amount of releases was much smaller - so instead of hearing 100 bad releases and 30 good per month you heard 2 good and 3 bad. And with time you learned to love the bad ones.
Maybe it's not the music, it's the time needed to understand it, and people do not have (or do not want to invest) that time.

A little bit more PR wouldn't hurt the scene, now would it ?
Specially for a great release !
