Hey moonsun
First the real djs used vinyls years ago ..... tapes and mini discs was for collectors , then the collectors called their self djs

Second if you believe that scene is dead , you dont need to start your label ,you dont need to loose your money and your time ... if you want to spend your time and your money for fun you can do it to your local store buying cds so you make support to the scene

Third . Realy tell me which record shop worldwide sell the cds 15-25 e .... maybe years ago mate ? but not at 2006

you can buy the music very very cheap !!!!!

0.99 -1.5 euro = 1 track wave or mp3 320kbps
9-12 euro = full lenght album , download or delivey

Also our local stores like underground sell very very cheap any release (past or new) maximum 10 e to any dj.

Greek Music industry lost 70 milion euros at 2005 ...... many people lost their jobs , quality artists ll never release , record shops and labels closed arleady .......

Realy if i am wrong lets stop this topic ..

THE COPY PROBLEM COMES FROM THE """""DJS"""""

COPIES KILL THE MUSIC (artists, labels, record shops, parties, distribution companies whole this fucking scence & music industry

WAKE UP !!!!!!!!!!

First of all, copy problems (unreleased tunes), come from the labels them selves and not the DJs. If you do not want your unreleased tunes on the net, don't give them out to DJs you do not trust and don't sign tunes from DJs that share their unreleased tunes like there is no tomorrow.
Noone needs to wake up. Everyone knows about this problem already, but simply are indifferent. Once a CD gets released, someone is bound to make it available for others to look for and get for free. What you need to do, is to convince the consumers that you have an easier way of getting tunes, at a price low enough that will appeal to the market so much, that will render searching for illegal mp3s on the net, as a complete waste of time.
Don't worry about people that have nothing better to do than roll a joint and search for illegal mp3s on line. They would rather waste their years doing that, than paying 0.001e to get their favourite tunes straight away. They are not your potential market and you are wasting energy if you are focusing on them.
I think that with the advent of on-line mp3 shops and with time, more and more people are going to start using them and downloading legal mp3 copies. Most people that want to buy an LP, only want a few tunes on there and don't feel like paying the extra cash for the tunes thay can live without. If there is an option to download certain tunes really cheap, they will do it.
Just give it time. Things can't change from one day to the next, but downloading legal copies will become the norm.

Now the next important thing to consider, is that most people that run underground dance music labels, do it because they love it. I would not expect riches from running such a label. Looking at the market, it is an unrealistic and wrong choice if you wanna be "living it large".
Don't get me wrong, I aprecciate your point of view and I know from experience (past and present) that running a label is not easy, especially if on top of that, you have a dayjob to support your label...not to mention your self or even worse, your family!

im not a pro dj, i like doing it for me..and my prive parties!
as u said stratos... i dont know any official cdshop in athens to sell new releases... the only 2 i know are expensive! yes its a problem... i dont blame u... but u have the connections now right?? come to our side.. and if u had some money to save what would u done first... buy cdjs and start playing for u!! and have the newest compilations from internet or to buy the officials cds 15-20eu.. if i done the 2nd i should never listen so much music and have fun with cdj..
about the labels u said that they dont support the greek artists.. so the labels they arent doing a proffesional job.. or the artists dont search enough.. only greek labels are exsist..? try their luck in other countries if they are real good they ll survive right?           Gain respect for yourself... and then the others will respect you.

he he.. Welcome to the Muzik Ravolution people..

if you wanna earn some money out of it, try to convince the few that control the cd market to lower the street price. Others with more interest in this have tried as well. Good Luck.
Until then.. enjoy what iz happening more than 7 years now. at last muzik iz free. from the people to the people. there iz no turning back on this.. i am sorry.. enjoy!           -----------------------------------------
it's ON !!

I personally buy the music I like. If I couldn't buy it I would download it. It is better to buy it, because you surely get much more out of an original cd (better sound, artwork, support the artist and label). But if you can't it is allright to download it, as long as you respect it, i.e. listen to it (and also the people that you play it for, in case you dj) and make an effort to buy it in order to support the artists and labels who release it.

i don't know if it's good or bad for a dj to play mp3cds or original?...but i certainly don't agree that cds nowadays are expensive...i don't think that 12.75 euros is expensive for a cd...As about who loves and cares this kind of music i tell this:ten years ago the minimum price you could get for a cd was 7000 drachmas(21 euros).....EVERYONE bought at that price and none complained.....Guys lets face it....you don't have to buy every bullshit the labels give you.....As about Candyflip WAKE UP GUYS.....don't you see that is the psysical encounter of Flying Rhino?.....respect good quality labels....at the end every good label gonna vanish!!....we don't want this, don't we!......support our scene.....support our Candyflip....support our good labels and as a track says:FUCK the mp3 file traders(AP records)

Stratos you are really trying to find an answer to your question through this forum or any forum at all mate?

Since you are involved in the music industry you should already know that people dont like buying stuff when they can get it for free, that everybody outhere thinks that he is a dj,that people download more music than they are able to listen not to mention that they dont know how to listen to their music, that people see the labels as bad and evil organisations that try to make money out of music (like there is any money to be made lol),that people feel proud for being able to download unreleased material and show it to their friends etc etc etc.

And concerning all these 'great greek artists' out there, arent they supposed to be the ones that will contact the greek labels in order to get in touch with them?I am running a label for 2 years now working with all the major artists in the scene and i cant remember more than 4-5 greek artists sending me a demo or getting in contact with me about anything, little bit ironic for a label that works with the top greek group Wizzy Noise no?

But ofcourse we also have that other thing going on,everybody with a cubase installed in his computer is considered to be an artist and when a label manager tells him that his music is not good enough for the label or that his style is not what the label is looking for you end up getting answers like 'You dont know what you are talking about' , 'You only care to release big names' , 'This is my style and i dont give a fuck if you like it or not' , 'Who are you to judge me' and stuff like that.

So to end up with this artistic side story everyone in Greece apart believing that he is a dj also believes that is a great artist too.

Sorry but not much time and patience to deal with these situations so i am focused with my artists in Ibiza and London that never feel bad when you tell them that you dont like their track and my distribution in Japan where people prefer to buy an original cd for 15 euros rather spend all their money on frape coffee and pame stoixima or buying vodafone cards for their cell phone to talk with their girlfriends all day long.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

unless there will be a penalty for everyone that is downloading, downloading will never stop.It is rather utopic to think that people(including me)will ever be so coscious-will ever give a damn in order to stop it.
it is as utopic as no money societies.

i guess that music industry doesn't have a very shiny future...just think of the new generations that may never buy music...
