and about "raves" i guess its a broader term to generalize any underground parties, independent of genre, and its also a more "ear gripping" term. "RAVE"- like something crazy goes on in those parties. i've heard people whove never been to an undrground event say that people jump around naked at raves and you have to do copious quantities of drugs if you go to one!!

for me a rave is just an extension of a club party, that someone figured out it's better outdoors

everything else at a rave is just like a club, from the music style and the drug selection of the people (those usually go hand in hand) to the style of customs and mentality (just recall the great u-tube flick "how to dance at a rave")

Demonoid - listen to ohmshantiohm - Mojave in march is going to be something you should be looking forward to, but don't expect a psyparty indoor in SF           www.myspace.com/zinduka

I am bored to death by the same 150-200 people at every psytrance party, this thread screams to so many reasons why that stagnation is not gonna change...

Sure there are a few differences between the typical rave and the psytrance rave... But we walk and quack very similar to the duck my friends...

i think the fact that the psy crowd is small means that we have more closely knit communities and thats a good thing.

in some cases. in some/most cases this can lead to stagnation, or worse, delusions of grandeur...

yah man but we dont have to worry about certain types of people who come and spread bad vibes, or do even worse: i.e. (this was taken from the south america forum) -

that's a pretty isolated incident... and could happen at any psytrance party in Caracas or Mexico or Texas or New York... Also, and more importantly to the discussion at hand; that wasn't a rave... that was a megaclub... It is absolutely vital to the discussion that you understand that there is a difference. I would reason that the comparison of the two would make a raver feel somewhat like you would feel if every comparison given by someone attacking psytrance parties was Infected Mushroom @ super mega club in Ibiza...

And to another point... What measures of protection are taken by organizers of psytrance parties to shield ourselves from an incident such as this? Do you know every single person that passes through the door? Is there a security guard performing searches for weapons? I would argue that this safety net you speak of that is provided by smaller parties is a pretty dangerous fallacy. I guess there is an undeniable argument that the possibility is smaller, due to the smaller crowd, but it is not alleviated by any means...

As far as "certain types of people"... I guess that would fit into the category of judging books by there covers.

ok whatever man, im not here to start an arguement. The point was not the security provided by organizers, im talkin about the differences in people who attend raves and psyparties. you believe what you want and ill believe what I want, lets end it at that. Shanti.

I truly wasn't trying to be argumentative any further than expressing a somewhat dissenting outlook. I would think discussion to be a better way of describing it.

I guess my point-counterpoint method is not the most polite in some aspects, but no offense meant.

All this makes me wonder: do the ravers poke fun at the psy ravers, like we poke fun at them, about how we're are the "elite ravers", and how we're the ravers that are too good to be ravers! hahah

are you trying to say that psy people are "better"?

if anything, minimal techno and IDM heads are probably the most sophisticated crowd among all EDM genres.

          ..it's just another party..

"obviously, i find most edm pretty boring and unlistenable, psy is where it is at"

OMG IS THIS SERIOUS ?PSY TRANCE IS EDM! what else do you think it could be. lets see maybe its not even music maybe were all just tripping and we create a network that creates frequencies that create music after we eat a bunch of acid and think were envirnmental throwing our garbage out but then were not high anymore and we drink beer and act totaly diffrent. im sorry i love psy trance and the culture , but i will not ADMIT ANYDAY THAT PSY TRANCE IS AS NICE AS SOME OF YOU SAY, MAYBE DONT TRIP FOR ONCE AND REALLY LOOK AT WHATS GOING ON. MORE THEN HALF THE PEOPLE DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BUDDHISM OR HINDUISM AT ALL, THEY KNOW WORDS LIKE KARMA AND BOOM SHANKAR LOL. THIS IS SO FUNNY CAUSE ITS TRUE . ALL THE FUNNY CLOTHES , GUYS WERE NOT IN THE 60's and WEARING PICTURES OF GODS YOU REASERCHED ON WIKIPEDIA THE NIGHT BEFORE THE PARTY IS LAME. also I THINK JUST AS MUCH PEOPLE EAT "acid" At raves as at any psy party. i dont think theres a drug of choice . some people like to shoot up also at psy parties! ALSO THE MAIN POINT ---------------------------- I DONT THINK WE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT RAVERS IF WE WERE ONE WITH OURSELVES AND OTHERS. NO OFFENSE TO Danrennt98 < YOU STARTED THIS TOPIC JUST FOR RESPONSE. BUT IN REALITY ALL THIS PRETTY STUFF IS BULLSHIT SOMETIMES. WHAT U THINK GURUS AND MONKS ATE ACID EVERYDAY TO REACH ENLIGHTMENT. GOOD LUCK SEE YOU AT THE PSYCH WARD IN A FEW YEARS

-im sorry to be so harsh but i dont see how going to parties every weekend and tripping every couple days doesnt exhaust a human being . albert hoffman never intended to create acid for people to consume recreationaly , he was actualy AGAINST THAT. so think of something instead of tripping and staring at the backdrop feeling like ur changing the course of our life

yeh dUHHHH! maybe caus that party was packed as opposed to psy festivals that sometimes have less people attend then and indoor party lol. sorry but its true ive been to shows with more people then an entire psy trance festival, and when you have that many people wether its psy or rave things happend. people steal at psy parties, fights break out at psy parties maybe you just werent there open your eyes its not as peacefull as it looks, because when were not high and not at a party we muct fucnction by the ways of society and if you disagree your lying to yourself lol
