Hmmzzz, I like smooth rythmic guitar lines, it kinda adds to the amtmosphere of the track (if properly applied ofcourse). Kinda like dirstraits does in several of their songs. Also I believe that a guitar beeing a non synthesized intrument can add warmth and difersity to a track. Distored "rock" guitar lines work good aswel but the intensity of these lines weares of when they come to repetative. Imho, like said before guitar works when applied in gentle amounts and when it add's to the track.
