A lot of these people get played and recognised in both scenes. (kruger + Coyle, cass & Slide, Tim Healy, Minilogue, Shpongle etc). Often though the production values are subtly different. The kicks and basses which seem very proggy compared to other psy tracks (like some of the new Freq stuff) actually sounds very trancey compared to more mainstream progressive tracks. I couldn't say about the money side of things. Its hardly the point at this level. The mainstream artist don't sell massively more records anyway. Its just a different scene.

I think the boundary will be blurred more and more over the next two years. Progressive/breaks/psy/house/trance melt into eachother very easily which is good.

well henry so u wanna say that true prog-house artists sells as much as prog-trance?

and the thing u sayed that everything melts into one thing that is sure nice. the border between prog house and prog trance is sure getting smaller every day and i like it.

but i think somehow some of this music is not being rlsd in the right places and that it could reach much more ppl.

welcome to the world of trance Getafix , Trance is not all about jet airplane speed bass
high lead melodies and frontline kick and psy SFX, there is a lot more in this music , progressive trance is a beautiful sub-genre in our scene and by the way i'm form israel and i don't have hot blood and i don't need only psychedelic .
progressive is boring well let me tell you something some progressive tunes are so much more complexed then full on or psy and definitely i wouldn't call it boring maybe smart is a better definition for this subgenre.

you might didn't understand it and you might won't understand it even after i say it once again but :good track is a good track no matter which style you categorize it to.

point.

i think all said here but the main point is that the psy progressive artists are just not in proper level or not in so good level to release thingsd on progressive label(saw, plastic fantastic and so on...).

what do you mean not in the proper level? i'm not an expert in progressive music but do you mean the psy proggressive artists, cause of the music they make, cant make it to major progressive labels? do you think they are actually on a lower "level"?           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

i think tim made valid point here. its not about
if its good bad to label music. the fact is that some
music is probably market to the wrong ppl, who wont buy it. and in a time when labels
struggle to sale their music i think its a really
important question he asked. i dont care.
but every artist and label should. if not dont
whine about sales...
this is a matter that labels and artist have an influence on.

yep thats the point im trying to make.

interesting to read your responses , especially getafix, really look foward to more of his intelligent and thought provoking points.

Sensient:
funny u mentioned Ryan Halifax as an exampel. Ryan Halifax is an alias for D-Nox and another guy(forgot his name) and D-Nox totally support the proghouse scene, he runs the house label Sprout togeather with Tobias Bayer.
But, yes, I know what u r saying, I guess this is what happens when artistst and labels re into music that r somehow similar to each other. Personally I think it´s a good thing.

I wouldn't say "lower level" but in a different level, sure. Generally speaking, progressive trance sounds too minimal and too fast (nothing negative about that) to be released in labels such Plastic, Minimal, Alternative Route, Lajja, and so on...

Still, they're both intelligent dance music styles with a lot in common.

Enes, I think you are sort of confused about what genre of trance we are speaking here. These labels you mentioned release only underground electronic music, which barely can be described as trance at all. I think if you called it only trance, and not prog trance of the psy genre, would be fair.

Problem is that most people who doesnot not know the whole psy (and the trance) history from its very start cannot tell the subtle difference between, say, psy-prog trance and prog only. Me myself, sometimes, can't as well. That's why some people seem so annoyed when they get a Cd on their hands expecting to hear something 'psy-ish'and it's not psy at all. To me, progressive trance has two branches: one related to the psy scene and another of its own.

Guys may correct me if I am mistake.

Peace and Love.

Motorik said it perfectly. Progressive is a great subculture in the trance scene. And I love it too!! You should all take a listen to some beautiful remixes of various tracks by Gabriel & Dresden... Now these guys know how to remix a track!! Wonderful stuff! Check out: Sarah McLachlan - Fallen (Gabriel & Dresden's Antigravity Mix) ... that one is superb!!           "Subconscious unravels at the point of death, and all time it has known erupts into a moment. I am also curious, just as Sensient, if there a great difference to an artist in terms of income to aim at the progressive psy or club progressive scene?

I am also very surprised that there are almost no acts that aim at both with the same releases. I am certain that for example Vibrasphere or Atmos tracks would do very well in the club progressive scene
