seriously, the fact that there are fans of the genre that took this seriously is proof enough that psytrance is in fact *not* art

actually, we had to basically start a church one year to get a festival in California to happen....
It was the Fusion Festival 2002 I think... when they had Absolum and Dimitry playing. The cops had found out about it and posted big signs on the freeway saying "Fusion Event Cancelled"
What happened was that the cops yanked the sound permit and the orgs weren't going to be able to get another one.... You were allowed to camp, but no sound bigger than a boom box....
Anyway, eventually due to some really cool legal assistance that just happened to be at the party, they were able to create a church that was our worship practice to have amplified sound... All participants had to leave the grounds, and sign a form saying they voluntarily are joining this worship group and then we got to partay!!! Very interesting way to give the man the finger...

yeah, this is a solution and it's not new. sadly, many organizer have to use religions as their mask for the shake of ca$h, in oher way, may followers are happy. exp: presentation of altars with certain religious characters/icons, etc. This could be one of the material representation if the 'man" come to visit the "musical sermon"
in east coast for example, the land owner of Four Quarters got a solution. They create a dogma called "Earth Religion" and using many "spiritual" idea include the "native amerika culture" as the mask or let's called it "shield" for better sounding.
Lucky for "gaian mind" people to shelter behind four quarter "shield", even though they still have the limit of sound volume they can present.
well, there is no better solution than this so far.

Goddamn burners! For all I care, burning man can rot in the stench of its own vomit and overflowing porta-potties. Actually, I kind of hate burning man with a passion, and this is not the first time I have heard of obnoxious burners talking smack about psytrance. What is art? I, as a clothing designer, take pride in my psychedelic, well-made clothing, and when I see "burners" walking around with stapled-together or hot-glued clothing that hasn't been finished properly (for real, this is common amongst burners), I shake my head at their lack of ability to understand wearable art. What about their "playa" names? Are those supposed to be art? Because they are awful too. Yeah, of course, there are beautiful things to behold there... but beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and not everyone has the same opinion. Burners have such a high opinion of themselves, their scene, and their lifestyles, and they have no problem telling anyone else how they feel... but in reality, the world-wide psy scene is so much more beautiful, unified, and conscious than the mass of humanity that shows up each year on the playa. And each time someone talks me into attending a "burner" event, I end up being irritated by the music almost the entire time, due to the lack of complexity of the types of music they prefer to listen to. Burning man is not an art, it's a really really big party that's gotten too big and egotistical for it's own good!
Sorry if I've offended any of you, I just get a little worked up whenever anyone mentions burning man... mostly because it seems that everywhere I go people ask if I'm a burner and I'm most definitely not.
