does art mesure with money , and the fact this little girl sold her paintings and people enjoy it makes it art more then if it would be thrown away to the garbage?

everybody's an artist now days we can all go to burning man and spray paint our hair change our name and then go back home and cross the street when the light turns green.
where are the Burners when you walk down the street There are a lot of old timers that make you turn down the music so they can sleep they start petitions trying to stop music and yes burn the man early psytrance will only have a place at burring man if you build your own stage and set it up nobody can stop you they will just make you move further away art is not who you are but what the world is |

Hey Elad! Good find, I've never seen this petition before. How are all the beautiful nature parties going on over there as it becomes warmer into summer?
I think it looks like a funny joke that helps disguise their bragging on how they think psytrance actually is artistic. The powerful sound of blasting psytrance at Outpost 23 happens to attract hippy people who like dark-twisted music, while dancing, doing drugs, and of course worshipping satan! Yep...that sounds about right!

the way i heard it is one year Outpost23's neighbors were royally pissed that they were having to listen to "thump thump thump thump..." all day and night so eventually it blew up into an argument in which one of the neighbors said something along the lines of "this isn't art, this is crap"...or something like that. so the next year they printed up t shirts and made the petition because they thought it was hilarious that someone would tell them that music isn't art
just what i heard though, i've never been to burning dude.

Exactly!!! Even though they were camped in the sound areas where music was tolerated, it seemed that the neighbors were house fans....
Of course it could be debated that pictures or stuffed animal monkey hung on a cross to look like Jesus isn't art either, but who's splitting hairs....
Thus comes one of the underlying principals of why burning man can be fun, but is the skeletal remains of what the idea used to be. "It's art until it annoys you"
Also one of the big reasons why breakbeat has made such a resurgence is because of the major crowd shift at Burning Man. There used to be a lot more psychedelic trance there, but over the years people moved over to breaks for various reasons...
Bassnectar.... used to play downtempo at psy gatherings quite a bit.... Same thing with An-ten-ae. In fact at least in the sf community, theres a good majority that moved to that style of music from psy. Also these are the same folks that are helping to head up the new dubstep movement that I've been seeing around the place.

I think I was actually there that year, they came over in the late morning all pissed off about the tunes nothing funnier than a pissed off sleep dep burner screaming and flailing about like a crackhead.Good times

During my 1st burn few years ago I was playing an AMBIENT set during sunrise on small soundsystem on Esplanade ... at some point some drunk fuck shows up screaming and demanding the whole thing must be shut down cause he can't sleep ....

We're getting older and dancing to 145bmp music is becoming harder and harder - that;s my theory hehehehe.
Maybe playa will see a big psyttrance comeback in the next few years - hopefully Opulent Temple will host again psytrance acts and djs this year!

Point taken, but I've seen folks older than your mom dancing to crazier shtuff than I'm even into.... So we all just grow old and start listening to downtempo... Personally, I've been over the burn for quite a while, but it would be nice to see a heavy psy contingent again...
