hey doodz...
first there were musical ideas.
many people loved this idea and the people developed a nice underground scene with love, drugs, happiness and all this stuff.
they celebrated cool parties with cool people and innovative sound that never existed before.
years later the people did the same, they went to parties, took drugs and heard the same sound.
after that some people thought : "ah, seems, that we have to change some stuff bcoz this thing with innovation is the root of our scene" they made several styles with the same idea, psytrance became pluralistic in a cheap way and nothing new was developed.
the hype began. 100s of people thought : "ah, we can make some money, we can build up own labels, own parties..." they forgot that they have no experiences with economic stuff, but hey what to do when you want to build up a label? go to parties, make connections to some freaks, ask for some tracks, pay for the mastering, pay for the production of the cds and vinyl and pay for the distribution, or better pay only for the production, the others are "friends" and they do it for free (bcoz they met the people on the party last weekend [on drugs]).
effect: unprofessional people make unprofessional music for unprofessional parties. ok, this maybe a good idea, the root of psy is in fact uncommercial and unprofessional. they forgot that this method only works with small scenes. BUT what happened with the sound?? ->nothing except it was going to be bad due to the rising amount of "producers" [kiddies and freaks downloading plugins and clicking on some buttons while smoking joints] who wanted to release on small "labels". some labels thought: "ah, this sound is new, maybe its innovative, thats what we need"
the effect of all this is, that tons of crap being released actually and nobody wants to hear it ->no money for the labels ->no money for the producers. thats it.
the reason for the non-existent payment of most producers/labels isnt the existence of sharing-utilities but it is the missing innovation!
this story repeats every 10 years with every scene when it begins to grow. the "bad" people are the doodz who want to earn money, bad idea! and exactly this people are crying in this forum bcoz they "lost" money they never would have earned in reality under normal circumstances.
remember the hippies in the 60s, acid, house, techno. the same problem all over the place!
and then some doodz on isratrance REALLY want to write positive critics on the worst psy ever released and they say "phattest snare in 2003" and stuff like that? im really wondering..
in times where cosmophilia goes to the loveparade to promote their shit on the highest commercial level im really asking WHATS GOING ON????
on the other hand, this story isnt that bad because psy will turn back into the underground, the scene gets smaller, 10% max of the good labels will survive and perhaps there will be a spirit like years before. i hope so.

i agree with you. there is a lot of shitty and unprofessional music going around, but they will not survive for a long time, only the brilliant artists who make original music will stay in the scene forever!

For me psytrance is definatly not dead. I don't know what you've been listening to lately, but there's some truly amazing fresh stuff coming from all kinds of places on the globe. Denmark, Finland, Australia etc. - everywhere.
Maybe a bit offtopic, but I think a lot of the music-discussions on the scene are too elitist. On the dancefloor it doesn't really matter if you've been around sinde 199x or you're attending your first party. Not to me anyways.
And if you really think psytrance is dead, try to listen to something else for a while. Who knows, perhaps you'll come back and fall in love again. Happened to me  DJ pr0fane (Iboga Records) | Multiphase

this melting lsd stuff is really funky..
my opinion has absolutely nothing to do with "elite"-attitudes, only with the fact that im bored bcoz of the actual situation
im one of these evil guys who download their stuff before buying it. i think this is my right bcoz i bought a lot of shit in the past. you can be sure that i know nearly every release that came out the last time and this is the point: i bought 4 albums: vibrasphere-lime structure, the carbon based lifeforms album, pps project-acdc, charm-pathfinder, frogacult- femme fatale ep.
as you see this is strictly not fullon, btw what is fullon? 5 synthies playing the same "melody" [just hear classical music and you will hear well composed ones], mixing nearly every style to make the music "full"- on? - but this is a point of your individual taste..
i think this is a bad ratio (released/buys) and this maybe has sth to do with my special taste so my opinion maybe is a little bit subjective. on the other hand i wanted to be objective in a whole. i think there will be some discussion...
we will see..

In any genre theres crap, diamonds and everything in between. Go back and listen to classical mushroom and tales of the inexpressible etc. ....
Your analysis of economics and its effect on the scene and the music specifically is accurate but dont worry. Natural selection, like it always has,will enable survival. I hope so at least.

I would say that people constantly crying out that the scene is dead due to commercialism are themselves an instinct specie 
How many years have we had this debate? The scene is still here and will stay here. There's nothing wrong in reaching a bigger market or "pull in" more people to the scene. I would be much more worried if the scene did not expand... Then it would be dead for sure !
So lighten up and enjoy the fact that we now have passed our 10th year of excistance.... That's a quite good achievement |

I think it's good right now.
Don't worry the Yahel's, etc. will evolve into the club scene and the true trancers will only buy what they like. So, naturally the trancers will eliminate the acts/artists that don't make the music for the same reasons trancers listen to it.
As long as people maintain a positive attitude and still want to buy music/attend parties there will be a reason for the artists to continue. |

progressive psy
I mean we need a bridge between sounds out of psy and the groove lines out of progressive trance/house.

I think you confuse the party with music...
coz you sense the party as a good one, but you go to the party with your friends, you will have fun everywhere...But perhaps you do not judge music as the primary point!
but I could be wrong, only ideas...

i think some of these labals say that they are just trying to bring new music to "the people", not trying to make money. honestly, i could care less. if it sounds good, i dont care what labal it comes from.
otherwise, i dont mind more people being dragged into the scene. i dont consider it commersialism at all. im one of the many that have been pulled in recently. once we start getting promos and stuff on tv then ill start to get mad.
psytrance is inovative no matter how you look at it. i dont see how it is "dead" or "dying" at all. sorry, i just dont understand how it is. |

the problem is not in kiddies that push buttons and downloading vsti's - the problem is the labels who release shit
i was disapointed in the last year - the bigger part of the released track is just shit
heard tracks that released without any form of sound - no kick no bass just the level ok.
when the labels will start thinking about scene and not about money then we will hear some quality music |
