detox , come live in israel lol , all this been here in the past 2 years , and probably 3-4 more from your list that i missed cause i travel alot... and endless list out of this little list for sure 
Hallucinogen,Astral Projection,Juno Reactor (coming soon) ,Total Eclipse,Sandman ,Cosmosis,Atmos,Hux Flux, MFG,Oforia,X Dream
also i still think there is great great music made after 2003-4 easly.. just got way harder to find it with all the stupid music around it..
so the good is still good , plus some very delicious new sounds but the bad has grown x100.. this i can agree with.. but then , pritty easy to filter for your own no?
for me it always working the same way , i folow the artists i like allready , find throu v/a's that they are on new artists , some are nice and get into the list of 'folowd by me'. it never fails and make sure you get to know great new artists. on the other side you might miss some good stuff that are out of your circle , but i rather that then actualy suffer throu 10 trakcs to find nice 1.

i speak only for myself
after fungus funk and terminator and after seeing kdd for the first time
nothing was the same for me
and perhaps i was being very strict concerning the 90's music
it changed my whole life and values system
but after 10 years this music is a bit boring for me
no hard feelings

and about the production and the music itself, dark trance is worse than fullon...because unlike in simple full on music where they copy past patterns and ideas, in dark trance you have nothing to copy because that kind of music is simply randomized sounds/patterns....
everything in the dark trance is pretty much the same, there is nothing to copy, because all they do is "drop this effect there and this effect there, put a bassline and a kick, and there you have a track...
EDIT: I think it's about the time to call the beast in its name, it isn't dark trance, it is "Noise Trance".
there is a small chance that I will even listen to it if you will call it Noise Trance because I listen to it once in awhile, just please don't relate it to psytrance.

I think you're too simplistic. I am not fan of dark trance but there are very interesting things in there. I think the whole genre has to be relabeled and organized in something like "new goa" things like Ocelot, Kindzadza and para halu. Then you can have some "dark trance" and further terror trance and maybe noise trance. There are a lot of gray tones in between.
Its not like "all this genre sucks" because the truth is that every genre has its outstanding artist and the other that are just crap. This is true for ALL music genres from hip hop, to trance, to techno, to country, folk, etc etc etc

you won't find so much randomized tracks in other genres released by labels.
seriously, I think I could program a DAW that will create that "noise trance" by pressing 1 random button...
the labels are responsible for this scandal...if the artist isn't mature enough (doesn't have enough skills yet) the labels shouldn't release their music, instead, if they think that they have potential, they should tell the artist what he needs to improve ( in their opinion.) before his music will be ready for a release. |

it makes me sick people who generalise in that way, seeing the things so closed mind and black and white. i listen to psytrance since 10 or 11 years, was beein in Goa in 90's, when I have discovered it, woow something special doscvered in myself and felt emotions I never felt before, then there came a period arround 2003, at all the parties and compilations sound was the same, then i had heared stuff from xenomorph, and following stuff from grapes of wrath, Parasense / terminator then again I felt something inside and twiggling in my stommach like first time when I felt like flying. so following listened to Kindzadza, Derango, psykovsky and so on and man i can not call this dark neither full on, or whatever it's just keeping my brain occupied, feeling to be somewhere where never been before and it makes me feel moving and dancing and feeling close to the nature. so if that;s not psychedelic then i don't know what you consider by psychedelic.
for sure there is crap and quality as already been said in all genres and styles, there are artists with concepts and creativity developping the music.
and btw what is dark, what is hard, what is soft??? all these answers we can all give and it can be all different so no objectivity in here. just the feeling s and the emotions |
