Electronic music will continue to evolve because technology and software is constantly improving and bringing us new possibilities. I mean look how much the music has changed in 20 years when it first was made with records and a roland 303. Technology keeps bringing us new and sophisticated ways to manage and manipulate sound, to cut and paste and create new frequencies.
In terms of the artist's creativity, there's a lot left to be explored in psytrance. The biggest vacuum for potential remains in the bass-lines. Psytrance is very much in the "white-noise", it's driven by the melodies and the otherworldly sounds more than anything else.
Also almost all electronic music (house, psy, trance) keeps a 4-4 beat (which is kind of one of the definitions of EDM). Maybe someone could experiment with some more complex Oriental rhythm systems. |

or more oriental scales (maqamat) instead of just the superficial sitar sounds every now and then. |

we might end up bored with music (period) before the evolution has stopped...
hell, i want 300 years but really dont imagine living much longer... i imagine there is a kind of sameness to all music after 300 years... assuming i can still hear by then... |

Psytrance hasn't stopped evolving at all. The only thing is that it evolved into something else not psychedelic but a kind of fun music for the family and kids. The psychedelic side of psytrance has long slowed down it's pace of evolution so i think that's the story, their are 2 options give up and listen to something else or else continue searching in this ocean of new music until you find what is right for you...EVen if we don't like todays music their is still some tracks which make you want to dance, their is still hope when their is still hearth! |

Space cat said in his video that psytrance is only for the dancefloor , I hate him for that... this is why I can't listen to his new music...
his old tracks sound much better, much more interesting and they work better in the dancefloor than his new tracks.
psytrance these days is boring because you can hear so much artists with the same patterns, they don't have any skills in music theory...it sound like they don't even try to create something unique, they just try to bomb the dancefloor...and honestly, i CAN'T DANCE TO SOMETHING WHICH IS BORING MY MIND TO DEATH!
I doubt that they actually know how to play the piano or the guitar...
only infected and maybe 2-3 more artists know what is music...this is why you will always listen to them, even if you don't like their new sound, they always create something interesting. |

haha Pythagoraz i knew girl last week that was in her first trance festival after only discover the music 2 weeks before.. she was amazed.
when she ask where to find new stuff i just send her to the myspace remembering your story..
like always the simple fact is that evryone got their own 'woodstock' , 60's were no better then 90's and now isnt any worse then the 90's..
evolution doing great work , music in 2008 is not sounding like 2000 , for good and for worse , but that allready depend to what artists you listen out of the thousands available |

Psytrance was music for the mind,the body and the soul.
Today it has focused almost entirely on the body part and thats why the old fans are going away and the new fans are very young in age and only care to have fun in parties and festivals.
No more tracks that bring tears to your eyes,no more tracks that give you the goosebumps and make your hair stand up,no more tracks that will make you dream or give you special feelings.
The only thing that has evolved is the audio production quality due to the new technology available,the spirit is long gone and psytrance is supposed to be a spiritual music.

well i have to be honest with you, i don't think the audio production is that evolved within trance, production quality is 10times better in electro, techno or drum'n'bass
