I believe it's up to artists to promte themselves as whatever they like to whenever they want to. And it's also possible to do various styles as an artist under the same artist name.
As an example you got Jaia who do psy, progressive and downbeat/chill.
If more artists did that our scene would be much more interesting

I play trance,ambient & even ethnic sometimes.
Last Saturday I played in a place called Naasha and I was booked to play a 5hr set of psy ambient.
Surpisingly enough more than half of our trance crowd came to the chillout night and + the locals the place was packed at 1.30 a.m
People were telling me to change style (although they were enjoying my ambient very much) and play trance!
At first I wasn't up for it but at 2.30 a.m I chaged my style and started playing trance amd I kept going till 5.30 a.m (till the place closed - which usaully according to th law that's at 4.00 a.m)and peaople kept on dancing fullon (  ) till the very end.
3 Persons out of 150 were disappinted because they came to Naasha to listen to me play ambient amnd instead the night was transformed into a trance night!
I fell happy about the other 147 persons because they enjoyed it but I feel very sorry for those 3 who complained bacause the night was promoted as ambient and for me that's being unfair towards them!

Tms, youre right in a sense... i just feel that there has to be some kind of prediction of what's in store since after all - people do pay money to see something... so its a service in a sense right? lets say you order a pizza with mushrooms and receive a tuna sandwich because the chef was creative.. would you pay?

That's exactly what I mean.
Most probably those 3 ambient fans would have preferred to stay at home or go somewhere else if they knew I was going to play trance.
That's why I play more than 1 style and there should be time for everything! |

Ok, first...GMS played NO house at all...
There was some sort of Detroit/ Hard Techno Dj playin before them.
While Riktam and Bansi were supposed to play 'Live' they ended up tag teaming for a Dj set.
Flawless mixin ...
The first 40 mins - I hour they played stuff like Astrix and Skazi  and the commercial GMS trax u can think off.
But the second hour rocked. !!!
The second hour onwards till the end they played some massive new tunes and wrecked machines and great new trax from Shanti !!! 
But at no point did i hear them play 'house', and the notion that coz they were in a 'house' club so it happened is just stupid.
We left soon after their set and had a chance to listen to stuff from their new album and their set for AValon, NY ..and it was pure psy !! so where is the idea of 'house' comin in ???
But the dj's were all techy/House-ish anyways afterwards.
Their was absolutely no decor and the bar shut at 2, which was bad.
Some trax made me laugh,, coz they were so preposterously commercial.. but the mixin skills and the newer stuff balanced it out.
As for psy acts playin house ...seems alright to me..
but personally, i cant stand house, but i think it wud be interesting if some of the psy artists dropped a nice 'drun n bass' track once a while.. I know i wud enjoy it.

Wow those Void tunes sound 10x better than their psy tunes. If there's a chance the whole Chemical Crew would change to something in that direction it would only do them good. In my eyes at least.
