Heya.Recently GMS came to toronto to play. They were booked at a club which normally has house acts. Also for the night, it was house dj's other than gms. I didnt go to this party, as I knew what was coming. The environment, music would all be different from a psychedelic gathering.

But some of my friends went and they told gms played about 1 psychedelic song, and the others were house music.

I wanted your opinion on this. I had a similar thing happen in another country but that time I actually went to the show and was very disappointed by hearing house music from a psy act. Maybe dj's just sometimes play for the majority of the crowd but still if I was a GMS listener (which I am not much of) and went to see them, and was confronted with such a scene, I would get disappointed. Anyways just wanted others opinions on this issue. Peace.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

so what you say here is that GMS, playing in a House club with House DJ lineup to (probably) House crowd should stick to psytrance, right?
sounds ok to you?

U think everybody want's to be stuck all the time with the same music? I'm sure Riktam & Banzi are interested in other musical styles, and this was probably pre-arranged with them so they can have the chance to play house music. I'm sure that after so many years of making the same stuff they also want some change (and it seems like they are going in the right direction if they start performing house).

what's the problem here?           auspexx@compact-records.com

No I dont think they were being sarcastic. I'll tell some other views once more reviews come in.

Helen I respect your opinion. I already told what i thought was the problem. But I also told I know sometimes dj's play for the crowd or the specific place they are at. If they like to play that kind of music, I have no problem. I also understand your point that if its such obvious at a house club and with house event organizers, you should maybe not expect psy, but not everyone would understand that I would guess.
Anyone who actually went and could comment here would be appreciated also.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

Well I beleive you Abatwa.
At least this was a house party.
Yahel played a house set at Fullmoon 2004!
What about that?

Anyway I strongly believe that artists like GMS will be deleted from Trance line ups sooner or later and end up playing where money is!

Some ppl when they listen a lower bpm than 144 or even 140 they think is house...

maybe it was some good progressive trance guys...
there are some acts playing some goood driving progressive trance trax which they might be missunderstood with house...

Tristan in boom festival last year was told that he was playing house... was he?

P.S and there is no prob with house ppl... open your eyes and minds, let your brian be feeded with more waves...          • Noize Conspiracy Records •

Plenty of artists play different styles under different names, eg tsyoshi DJs under "tsyoshi suzuki" for psy and whatever his other name is for electro-type stuff, but if you went to a party with "GMS" in the lineup, you'd feel a bit ripped off if they played house..

I dont think my friends would consider lower bpms to be house. they generally like prog, techy psy anyway so they would know.

I didnt say anything about the house music or house people. I made no judgements regarding those things.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot
