@Pat et al, thanks for the music, the vibe, the goods. it couldn't have been more perfect. Even the weather was good to us!

Dave Henshaw's Review:

12 hours in car!
Asheville seems like days away!
They came and conquered!

OK, OK - I'll shut the door on that one immediately......

*creeek*

Majestic Meadow
Light-O-Matic Sound System
A PERFECT combo.

***SLAM***

So yeah, people have been saying that the party had a weird vibe - and you know, it really did. Full moon? End of the summer? Rent checks due soon? I dunno. I would say the wierdness came from the fact that it was so different than many of the parties that I've been to over the course of the summer. First of all, it was FREE!! Nobody checked ID's, nobody demanded money, nobody searched me on the way in! We just drove the truck onto the field and literally walked untouched onto the dancefloor. Second of all - it was LOADED with respectful, happy, smiling, and giving people! You had Pat, Neil and the whole PSI crew securing the venue and working hard to organize it. You had Ben lugging the sound system and setting it up. You had DJ's and visual artists coming from all over the U.S to donate their time and efforts. You had Sharon dishing out the ice and drinks, Mark doling out the sweet Chai, and Marria and the Boston team wiring up a blender ! (thanks Spook) to make frozen fruit smoothies to pass around the dancefloor. (say nothing about the sweet hula hoops!) I think the weirdness may have come from the fact that this party - much like the last Pine Barrens party - was the exact ideal vision that most "trance hippies" have in mind when they compare our generation with our technology-free woodstocker generation of the late sixties. Free party, free food, free music and visuals, free parking - and MASSIVE amounts of respect for all the people there and the venue itself. I was one of the last to leave and let me say, "leave no trace," was more a divine rule than just a casual suggestion. Not a stitch of left-over! (MAJOR props to an unknown guy who, at mid-morning, was seen patrolling the grounds with a zip-lock bag picking up butts, bottle caps, and little papers.) The party was a massive collaboration of folks representing seven different states and a residential radius of over 2500 miles!

In such a state, it'.s difficult to let go of that inherent human drive towards complaining and being skeptical. Ominus gusts of wind would sweep through the late night air - followed with the standard "Ok, here comes the rain!" Needless to say, not a drop of rain fell. (Though, I will say, Pat was VERY prepared with generator covers and all the procedures that you'd expect an organizer of such class to have up his sleeve.) People would leave our campsite and others would look to engage in "talking about them." But there was never anything to say! Save a few acid casualties, I saw nothing but smiling faces and people having a good time.

I'll keep this short - as David DeJesus just homered off Matt Clement to tie to the Sox game at 3 - so my attention is sadly (sadly? *sniff* Joanna? This is VERY important!!) diverted. But let me give some serious THANK YOU applause to everyone who was there...

Pat, Neil, Dave and the PSI crew for totally dialing in this party. (And the sweeet early morning prog!!) These last two events have made me feel so bad that I missed the previous three years worth of these things! Such an awesome time!! And, of course, Ben for the sweet system!!

KRI, Monkey, Katie, and all the heads who drove up from Asheville and represented! The muscial sets were... well... full-on! The tapestries were powerful! (especially the geometric shape-ones) and the "sharsies" were cool too. One of the best moments of the party for me was sitting in the campsite futilly "arguing" with Kri about the superiority and importance of progressive psy-house while Katie, seeking shade, literally crawled UNDERNEATH the truck! As if my very well-engineered tarp structure was not good enough!

Spook - For a guy I've never had the pleasure of meeting, this guy proved to be a MAJOR champion! Not only for giving us access to his power for blender-plug-in, but for just being an eternal source of positivity at the event. Musically, visually, on the dancefloor - this guy is some major league light!

Paal and Teri - our friends who will be moving on to their next phase - a life in Norway - and who we'll miss greatly. The party was tough and sad in this case only. Having that "one last horrah" with good friends is tough to swallow and I think the sadness and anxiety got the best of us all on many more than one occassion.. :-(

Mark - for the Chai and the comic relief when needed. Typical Mark Matsyendra Dot Net!

Merry - FOR COMING!!! I thought she had been swallowed by Las Vegas forever! And that last track... it was like something out of a Greta Garbo movie!!

Serena - for dialing in the last of the string sculptures and making it count! It was simply bomb and made the whole display feel like an installation!

Dustin - for holding down the dancefloor once again! Though I've seen the shark in much more of a frenzy, it was still good to see him representing the Three Rivers!

Darius - for holding it down during smoothy making and Karmakanic's set! It's always great to talk with this guy. Lots of stuff going on with him and in his mind. Easily one of the finer individuals around!

Sharon - for the ice and all the good campsite conversation! After the last party, I'd say her and I were on the same page this time. Making sure to dial in the shade structures and have enough to go around...

Jacob - for getting me talking about trash disposal and thinking about it at a crucial time in the event. His good natured comment was placed perfectly and sent me off in a direction I needed to go.

Sid and Hsuan - two guys from Connecticut who I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with. Two examples of the positivity that seemed to be screaming in everyone's face every moment!

Alright, Alright... I'll shut up now... I'm pretty distracted.. Can you tell? (Clement just loaded the bases with his THIRD hit batter of the night) Thanks to everyone who came out, hula-hooped in the sun, threw the frisbee around, danced, played music, enjoyed artwork, and made this party... well... really fun!!

----------sidenote: "dialed-in" (verb) 1. *trance* To bring, donate, display, or share anything which adds to the positivity of a party or any related trance activity. USED: Knowing the crowd was excited to hear them, the DJ dialed in two of the new Phony Orphants tracks during his set. 2. *CNC* To assign x,y, and z co-ordinates to a spindle and then assign that spindle a tool. Also can be used in assigning a tool to a lathe tool holder or a manual mill chuck. USED: He needed to skim the surface of the skid-plate, so he dialed in the fly-cutter and took .005 off the entire surface.

Anyone know if there will be pics up from light-o-matic?

You know what was the stangest part of the party for me? when the stopped the music right before the played depeche mode and it was just....silent. deafening silence.

And then everyone just kind of looked at eachother.

It looked like 300 people had just shared the same awkward silence.

And we enjoyed it. ^_^

what flipped my head were those two helicopters that flew by together toward the end of the party. they were so low i wouldnt have been surprised if they landed right there. maybe it just scared me cuz i was tripping my balls off. damn paranoia at times. oh well. i loved the entire experience, again.

PS have another in september, it will stil be warm enough. hint hint           My Mind Is Going!!!
