I personally find good music all accross the board. I choose the best from all the styles, from chill to banging night and I arrange it all in a long set. It works out very nicely  For me personally the music today is as good as the old music or better in certain sense.
2 days ago i mixed with a friend and he had mostly goa and trance from 96 til 00. And he played rocking tracks from Koxbox, green nuns... and i played derango, wizack twizack... and to tell you the truth psychedelic trance has always artists that will inspire accross the board and any point in time of its history. |

I think it's important to differentiate between 'copy-paste' and 'repetition' as it's applied to trance-inducing music. Repetition is the essense of trance. Good progressive trance takes that repetition and adds subtle dynamics to create a journey in that state. etc etc

I don't think either that Progress trance is the best genre since Goa. As many people have already said, one can find gems around all genres, and crap all around too. So it all depends on ones taste. I agree with ganjagil here, because progressive music at deep night time doesn't fit, at least to me. Anyway, there are progress tracks out there that are very enjoyable. |

First of all I would like to say that I really enjoy progressive psychedelic trance, just like I enjoy fullon or dark or melodic morning psychedelic or whatever. Deep and wonderful sounds. Makes me feel something, you know?
This is going to sound strange to most of you, but hear me out here. If you take a listen to superstar DJ shows like Global DJ Broadcast and A State Of Trance, you would hear that almost every track in there has a progressive touch! It`s almost like it`s the cheesy versions of what we think of as progressive. It seems like it`s the new big thing. I mean, Armin Van Buuren spinning "real" progressive? I beg to differ! I have heard Freq on GDJB, by the way. In a set by John 00 Flemming I think.
What I am trying to say is that IF psychedelic progressive trance took over this scene, it would go hand in hand with todays "commercial" trance. It would be the underground, while the ASOT stuff would be the mainstream. It would be like Goa was to the Eurotrance back in the late 90´s, the true underground.
This is just a thought, so please set the record straight if you disagree. but please listen to those shows i mentioned and make up your own mind. I don`t know about ASOT, but GDJB definatly has a mainstream progressive sound.
