First off, it is subjective, so IMO I can call it full on, even though I know it is different from the usual full on sounds. But just to make clear, in my interview with Filteria (which can be found here: http://www.fullonline.net/archives/2006/12/filteria.html ) I said:

Your music could be called "Goa with up-to-date production".

And also:

Filteria is one of my favorite projects, and these days he's one of the few artists out there producing music that could be called "GOA trance".

However, on the Filteria - Heliopolis promotional text on Saikosounds (which you provided the link) it says:

Heliopolis - greek for city of the sun - describes perfectly Filteria's music: Massive superpsychedelic full-on goa trance opening windows on enlightening journeys into the sun.

So this is subjective... But one thing is for sure, when you send links to compare Filteria - Heliopolis to a Phonokol release from the later Psytisfaction series that just suggests your knowledge about full on is possibly restricted to non representative releases...
Respect!

dear mr full on... I just made aquick telephoen cal after reading your respons and spoke to a good friend of my sisters who lived in Goa from 1970 - 2004. He was not involved in the scene other than a collector of music, art work and photography... he has experienced a lot of the scen and was one of the people who developed my involvement in the scene as well.
I asked him what he though of comparing the sounds released by Suntrip and the sounds released in the full on genre.
In his opinion (and please all musicians and label owners he said please do not take offence):

"Whilst Suntrip has the music and the melodies of Goa,the passion and also he beleives the spirituality as well. The melodic layering and sounds, in particular he spoke of Filteria, Khetzal and Afgin, is brilliant and shows that maybe the circle has done one loop and is beginning again in a new way. To compare these sounds with the style that begae in the late 90's and is now referred to full on is like comparing orange and apples. Full on works on th eoment, it does not aim to tell a story but it aims to sell a product, and to get a rise out of the crowd. The structures of the music are a lot more basic than goa trance and the focus is not on spirituality and beleife, but on drugs and money."

for some one who basically lived in Goa through most of this scene, his opinion counts more than yours Full On...           --- Love In Light, Dance In Darkness ---

a lot of the early goa sounds aren't always Goa based as in full of Indian sounds and melodies. The idea of Goa is that it was the place where parties happned. It isn't the place which inspired th emusic. Certain producers were inspired, otheres just made psychedellic music.

What's the difference between Goa and Psychedelic then?

I think you know best. Tell me first, and I'll tell you second.

Now now, all opinions are equally valid. It just sounds like your mate hates full on.. and who could blame him!... kidding... sort of

Recently I've been looking back to artists making non-goa psy style trance music that proceeded the psy trance of today. Mainly artists on the Psy harmonics label. Did we call that psy trance back in the day? Or was it just straight up techno?

It's all about Goasia for me anyways

I think all opinions should be taken into consideration, and each person should reach his own conclusions. I think this opinion of your mate is valid, but does not count more than any other opinion, including mine.

You're suggesting that some opinion may "count more" than others based on the fact the guy lived in Goa? I just fail to follow your logic...
Following this logic, my opinion about full on should count more because my nickname is full_on from the beginning...

don't know but considering all new skool or whatever people call it
and we are talking about < 20 releases so...
filteria has the most fullon influences...
especially the baseline imo...           http://www.last.fm/user/LastFmKoen

Pleiadians - I.F.O. is an album made in 1997, released by Dragonfly Records.

This genre is Goa.

But ... Goa is a hinduistic + futuristic/astronomical genre of music.
Psychedelic is the same, just without the hinduistic stuff.

Now what my question is: When Pleiadians is a term of civilians living on The Pleiades (Seven Sisters), and they base ALL their albums and songs on this star-picture, then why is the genre GOA?!

1. It has no middle-eastern theme.
2. It doesn't include music from hinduism (you know what I mean).
3. It's all about some stars in the universe.

Please answer this for me. I'm 14, and I just got into this genre some months ago, so I might be unknowledged...

I.F.O. is something far different from all other albums from so called Pleiadians.

Producers from Italy call them selfs as a one of the most enlightened civilisations in universe, dont even know it that the first and maybe the best album of all time is acctualy influenced, or better to say cannalised, from the real PLEIADIANS and put into a great message to all human beigns.

All fans never can understand why is so hard to make something like this again, they dont realised that this is something unique.

Pleiadians are mentioned in hiduistic holy books more then any other civilisation. In this point you can say that this is Goa Trance, but this is not just a music, this is a great message from space, i know it, because i saw it, and spoke whit them(real Pleiadians)!!!

Danni, I'm listening to trance music for almost 20 years now. Names mean nothing- they just help ppl categorize things- never take them too seriously.

When I started to listen to this music if it was 4x4 we called it trance. I do the same now after I got tired of all classifications. It also makes things more interesting, more surprising.

And I.F.O is a damn good trance album.          ---------------------------------------------

4 x 4 is like new beat,
the structure of the baseline, now it's 8...
first releases were in the in the beginning of 90's,
but before that DAT's ruled...
lot's of goa has never been released on cd...

trance was an influence in goa what became goatrance...

as far as I know

correct me if I'm wrong           http://www.last.fm/user/LastFmKoen
