Indeed, E.B.

The only boundary some of these already reffered "business people" have is with money.

The only real contract you can have with them is investment in advance, cos if they payed you already 50% they will try their best to make it work smoothly.

I had recently started working with Fernanda and the Level dj's team sending my artists to
Brazil via this booking agency and I find them as top professional and most reliable agency-A blessing after my previous experience in Brazil that was a total FIASCO-
A real nightmare!!!
Some months ago I was contacted by a brazilian dj-Gui Millani that offered me to get Melicia for a gig in Sao Paulo. After few questions ,I understood that him and his production team are new in this business and
it would actually be their first ever production
but I decided to give it a go as I believe in giving fair chance to people and they convinced me with their passion to do it.
I admit making a big mistake here and wrong decission trusting a bunch of amatours- a mistake that will never repeat again. At the time,I was even thinking about helping this team further by sending my other artists to them and I saw us growing together in the Brazilian market.Further more ,I decided to give them the opportunity to get other gigs for Melicia upon the date of his arrival to brazil to help them cut their production costs.
Well...I was dreaming , and step by step my dream became a nightmare!
It all started when I found out(just a little too late) that they've made a decission to go against a party with Raja Ram and Alien Project produced by the best promoter in Brazil as they were thinking that the party people would prefare to go to a party with Melicia- A brand new artist that just released
his first album insted of going to party with 2
gients like Raj and Ari-Wrong move!!
To calm me down ,they reported on very good pre-sales which reached the number of 630 tickets a week before the event.
Although we agreed that we would purchese
the flight ticket here, they bought the ticket there to save few pennies and skiped the artist insurance altough I specificly insisted on it in every e-mail that I sent them.
When Melicia arrived to Brazil they asked him to use his old leptop that was a piece of junk
-definatly not for live sets-as they claimed that a pc computer would cost them a fortune.
out of a good wheel ,he was convinced to do so-another big mistake!
at the date of the party , only 300 people showed up. the other 400 people that were reported on pre-sales just 2 days before, were lost probobly and couldn't find the way to the venue. After 70 minutes of his live set, his old computer just cracked and he could not continue the remaining 20 minutes of the live as we previously agreed. The guys brought him back to the hotel and did not come to see him for the next 4 days as they were very busy argueing with me blaming him in a very ugly way for their loses and their poor production saying that he had ruined their reputation(What a Joke-What reputation exectly?),that he is burned in Brazil and nobody would ever take him and other kind of ugly mud and dirt. Meantime,Melicia became very sick and needed a doctor and medicines that costed us a fortune as he was not insured, and non of them seem to care much about it.While they were busy fighting with me, Fernanda of Level dj's(God bless her),contacted Melicia for another gig in brazil. At the same moment Gui appeared at Melicia's room.Suddenly Melicia was not such a loser that nobody wants to see in Brazil and the story changed.Melicia and myself are greatful to Fernanda for saving the day for us and restoring his dammaged reputation
due to an amatour and ogly behavior and we
would continue to work with Level Dj's as we
are seeking for professionals.
Most recently ,another Phonokol artist-Panick,
done a very sucsessful tour with Level Dj's
and soon ,our top legendary act-Astral Projection, willarrive to Brazil trough Fernanda and Level Dj's.For us, Level Dj's is the best and most professional agency exist in Brazil and so would say my friends at Com.Pact records and many other Israeli acts that Fernanda supports over the years!!!
Saludos Fernanda

Still, I emphasize each and everyone out of my suggestions; Should anyone choose to disregard them, do it at your own risk and plz, do not blame the whole bunch of brazilian organizers afterwards

Oh, yes ! Since Oren mentioned the problems Melicia had with the equipment down here, why not try & avoid a fiasco with Astral in his coming gig down here ? Plz do drop a word with Level Djs regarding Club A's sound equipment (or its absence, whatever); Let me describe it quickly: Two (yup, I said TWO) loudspeakers positioned at the left and right ends of the front stage. Subwooffers right bellow the front stage. And then, several midrange and high range horns dispersed around the clubs arena.

The total area of the arena is aproxx. 500 sq meters. The overall result with this arrangement is that the public is forced to perform what I call walking equalization: This is, if you're in the mood of only listening to high frequencies, you've got walk from mid-arena towards the rear end. In 70% of the Club you won't be bothered by those annoying midranges...

Now, if you want to give it a try to some mid flavor, go right to front stage, where you're to find two (yup, I said TWO) loudspeakers which try their best to drive some mids off.

Seriously, maybe ASTRAL is able to put some pressure over Club A (this is, if Astral cares about HOW its public will hear to their sounds), in order to have Club A lease, at least for Astral's gig a decent (I mean DECENT, not superb) sound system).

Astral's sound is fantastic. It would be a pity to have it spoiled, in what seems to be their only gig in Brazil, by a decrepit set of pas and loudspeakers.

And one more thing: If they're to perform over keyboards and the likes, try & specify exactly what you need, otherwise you're bound to have problems with unsuitable keyboards, setups made 3 min before the gig, missing cables and so on. And if you need a multichannel mixer, you've got to say it clearly, otherwise all the stuff will have to be connected on to a DJM 600 mixer 3 min before the perfomance. (Of course, AFTER having disconnected the standard cdjs which are to be playing before Astral's gig).

But I'm wasting your and my time, for I'm sure Level Djs have you all well briefed and informed much before I've even thought about writing these.

(Anyway I suppose this eliminates any possiblity of the artists blaming the lack of equipment after a poor perfomance. What I've mentioned is EXACTLY the current status of the sound setup). So, if shit happens, the fault surely won't be Club A's or Level's)

Well , there is a good oportunitie to have a new bussiness and help Djs all around. Brazil just have the Level ??? If u guys believe that u can make a better job than the job that level has been doing why not contact the artists and djs agencies of other countries and open yr own. We dont need to criticize people for their work , but we can do better. Dont be an amateur ,study , learn ... and them do better.

Well, I didn't quite get the point...It's somewhat purposeless to criticize people for what they are...but not to criticize for what they DO ? Then there's no point in critics whatsoever. Critics came before Science. God criticized Himself when He decided to create the Woman, for it would be unfair to let Man roam alone on Its Creation. I ought to be tripping to recite Genesis over here. Amen brothers.

IMO this topic should be closed ages ago.

I believe there are too many bitter and jealous people here.

Electronic Bungalow, man I think you should chill out a bit and stop complaining all the time you take things to seriously.

Maybe yeah level dj's did mess up a bit, but no one is perfect not you not level not even me. I also can't see your role in this story. the only ones that can play a role in this story is the artists and level djs, and perhaps recrod labels and managers.

What are you trying to achieve by coming to a international forum and blaming people and trying to burn peoples image? for me that is jealously. Don't you nothing better to do? perhaps give a good fed back once in a while would be good, never saw one of those coming from you in this forum.

Oren, best of luck with astral projection in brazil man I'm sure it will be a blast           "Great things are only possible with outrageous requests." Thea Alexander

Ok. I understand all points here, but one.

There is a question that doesn´t go out of my mind and it is not anwsered yet, after all this discussion:

WHY was Charles canceled that friday on Club A?

Neither Fernanda nor Mauricio anwsered this simply question after all their comments...

It's quite simple... Learn from some of us oldies who have seen it all

NEVER go to the airport and take a flight whitout at least 50% in advance at least 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled flight.

NEVER got to the airport and take a flight if you dont have the returnticket in your hand and a valid confirmation (from a hotel as a e-mail or fax) that you have a proper place to stay (a clean hotel is standard).

A contract in this scene is not worth the paper it's written on so NEVER rely on a contract... It's a waste of time.

ALWAYS ask around (your DJ/artists collegues) or someone local over the internet (preferable more than one) about the organisers and how they threat artists/DJ's.... It's a good hint that something is wrotten in the state of Denmark (an expression) if more than 2 people are negative about the promoters.

These are simple rules that will prevent you from a lot of trouble

****** Anyway always up for some serious professional promoters (progressive trance - not full on) contacting me *******

What I’m trying to achieve should be pretty obvious by this time: To give some pratical guidance & reference to artists who are coming or planning to come to Brazil and get themselves entangled in terrible situations, and they happen many more times than one’d suppose

The artists themselves loose both ways: Don’t earn their deserved money, THEY are blamed by the public for a no-show or a poor perfomance, and the public ends up not receiving what it has paid for. And those for me are good enough reasons to come to an international fórum and cry it loud, for as I’ve already said it before, the ONLY ONES who can change this situation are the artists themselves, by being much more carefull when accepting a booking confirmation.

And since most of the artists do not speak portuguese, the obvious choice is an international english speaking fórum.

But, yes, one might consider that I’m being jealous, or have some obscure reason behind my words. Of course, that could be the case, it is quite true, got to agree with you. But, jealous or not, are ANY of the facts that I’ve reported here untrue in any sense ? Are they ? Each and every of the facts mentioned here did not happen ? Have I not backed up every comment with lots of references that can be easily checked out ?

And finally, ask for the vast majority of users here who have been to the places mentioned above if what I’ve been saying does not describe the ACTUAL situation ? So my friend, the reasons behind my words, whatever they might be, do not have the power to change the reality. And facts are what they are, they do not get better or worse because of our reasons to talk about them. And of course, who I am and my reasons to describe them could not interfere less with reality.

And as long we’re talking about well established facts that affect you all artists, being this a serious fórum, no reason whatsoever to have this thread closed I think, for doing so would only serve bad organizers who will keep misleading the public and the artists, without the risk of being criticized or having their faults exposed .

Psychedellic cheerleaders we’ve got them by the bucket. A little bit of seriousnnes won’t spoil this exquisite vibe of ours. Or will it ?
